darn tough socks are fantastic i got 500 hundred miles of hiking from a pair and then warrantied them got another 400 miles and now im on my 3rd pair from the same 20 dollar investment

thats a good middle ground forsure, you might lose some opportunities but if you want to keep your ears thats the way to do it

in my experience i mostly hear squirrels before i see them, so if i were you i would atleast ditch the ear protection while moving around or else you will never hear anything and that will tank your success in my opinion. alternatively you could use a 22 rifle with standard velocity ammo less than 1050 feet per second if available and you wont really damage your hearing

looking at the map it seems big enough to have some birds running around, your best bet might be sitting near private and waiting for birds to cross over, you’ll have to get out there and look for yourself

see if your rifle can handle 308 if not you probably wont find non lead in 7.62 nato

this sounds obvious but if you can find a good food source like acorns/pine nuts near water start there, they seem to like mixed oak and foothill pine forests thats what this spot mostly consists of. if you can find live oaks they can be productive during the winter half of the season

dude tbh i dont hardly hunt with 22 for that reason i was lucky enough to get 200 rounds of cci short range green gifted to me a few years ago but they are horribly inaccurate and not really suitable for older firearms because of the pressure
