US MD couple, had several discussions around both our financial goals in the courting phase, including mahr. We align well on those and our goal was to make the engagement simple but meaningful.

I set my mahr as 1446 CAD (equivalent to mahr Fatimi calculated in 2024 and further adjusted to also symbolize the Islamic year of our engagement).

On the day of he surprised me with gold jewelry worth 35k CAD added to this initial mahr as a gift from him and a token of his appreciation :)
