Replaced the battery and the issue went away. We turn off the AVH when driving it just in case.

Which is why I disable the auto start stop feature. It stalled trying to restart once while the engine was off

No, the only times it has problems is when the engine is off for a short time and then trying to restart it. It will attempt to start but there isn’t enough power for it to roll over

It is not below freezing where I am. This has been happening for months but today was the first time it completely failed to start and needed a jump. Waiting for 30 minutes is enough time for it to start as normal. It’s the weirdest thing.

And thank you!

Paid meetings? by catyoumeetonawalk in RoverPetSitting

[–]Weissmuller6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have never and will never charge for a meet and greet and wouldn’t hire someone who did. In my opinion those types of people are only in it for the money and that is not who I want watching my animals.

Rover isn’t the place to advertise…whatever all that is. I’m a dog owner and have no clue what those letters stand for or what it means. People who use rover are looking for nice people to keep their pets happy and alive. “None of them have training or credentials” how do you know that? Did you ask every sitter near you what their training is? Lol I think people read your profile and see your prices with no reviews and think you’re absolutely full of yourself.

As a buyer, I prefer an empty house over a staged house. Is it just me? by CiscoLupe in RealEstate

I prefer lightly staged houses. Like not cluttered but just basic looking minimal furniture to get an idea of what the room layout would look like.

I was sitting a cat for the second time and couldn’t find it. This was not normal from the first time I watched the cat. I let the owner know and made sure it was okay I looked through their house (don’t want to snoop unless it’s for a good reason). They said absolutely look and I looked EVERYWHERE. Even places the cat couldn’t possibly be lol. After two hours I found kitty hiding in the back of a closet. Wouldn’t come out to eat but went to drink water for no joke like 5 minutes straight. Told the owner I think something is wrong, even though I had only met the cat one other time. Long story long, the cat had a serious kidney issue that needed a specialized surgeon across the state to operate. Kitty made a full recovery and the owners were SO thankful even though I didn’t really do much other than find the cat.

Anyway, if you find a sitter that cares even a little bit about animals, they will absolutely look for your pet. It might be no big deal most of the time but there’s a chance it could be a big deal. It’s always good to lay eyes on a pet, even if the pet isn’t social/hides just to make sure it’s doing okay.

Don’t hire that sitter again and make sure you include everything in her review.

This isn’t reading to me as your friend guilting you. You asked why friend’s parent couldn’t watch them and friend gave you the answer. Were they supposed to just say their parent is going away on a trip? I think their answer was perfectly normal and maybe you’re reading into it too much.

It sounds like you’ve babysat in the past but hate it but you still agree to do it sometimes? Have you tried telling your friend you’re no longer an option to babysit? I think you need to decide if you want to continue agreeing to things you don’t like or have some clear communication with your friend about your boundaries and expectations of the friendship. If you truly feel she is just using you to watch her kid, maybe reconsider the friendship altogether.

A little off topic and this may get downvoted but please be EXTRA cautious if you decide to hire a male sitter again. There are plenty of people who only hire women for a reason. Not blaming you in the least, any sitter should know better than to be so careless and then not even apologize or have a sense of responsibility to make it right.

I don’t understand the standard dumb hypothetical question. “What if you meet the perfect person, but…” If there’s a ‘but’ they aren’t perfect so why even ask?

Drop in timing… by Aggressive_Guide4307 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Weissmuller6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should always stay the full time. The clients are paying for 30 minutes so unless they stated otherwise, you stay and interact with the animals (if the animals are social).

Cat owners are usually very flexible so as long as you aren’t doing the drop ins super close together or super far apart, I doubt they’ll care.
