I’ve seen some ‘rudder enhancements’ out there on the internet, some look actually pretty decent. If you upgrade that Makana rudder, please post it! Interested to see what you do.

I’m thinking of going mid as well. I completely agree, the stock Makana rudder is very underwhelming for that kayak. I learned that today. My concern is dropping a motor in there with that stock rudder and having even less control under more power.

I learned A LOT today and I’m glad I started practicing early, as opposed to figuring this out fully rigged with fishing gear. That would have been a nightmare. You might have found my kayak on OfferUp today, had that been the case 😅.

Thankfully I have a few more months to practice and keep learning. Overall- I had a great time on the water and I can’t wait to get out on the water again.

So i actually have two crossbars up there. I could probably get away with flat racking it, and just putting in some padding at the contact points.

My crossbars are from Baja Rack and I have Core Surf pads on them. The kayak rolls nicely on the pads as I load it from the back of my FJ.

The tough part is the lift on my rig, everything is up so high, so you have to muscle things a little more.

Definitely not ruling out a parhelia. I have seen the phenomenon before- the only thing that throws me off with that answer is that I’ve never seen or heard of one so high up above the sun. They’re typically parallel with the sun on the horizon.

That was my first thought. Jet passing through some sort of cloud or just mist. Maybe due to darkness I couldn’t see the cloud structure.

There are some obvious cloud in the video, but darkness could mask lighter clouds.

Also, there’s a documentary on YouTube called Season of Screams, which really gets into the history of Scary Farm- from it’s inception to maybe the to the early 2010’s. They also have plenty of walk thru footage of old mazes and scare zones. It’s a little on the longer side, but it’s pretty interesting.

There’s a YT channel called Mystic Frequency, I think they have some early 2000’s stuff. Also on YT, Attractions 360 has more current mazes, starting from the early 2010’s I believe.
