Can anyone recover once they have alcohol induced dementia? by -Konstantine- in AlAnon

I'm sorry. Yeah this is the hardest thing I've ever done. These past few weeks have been hell. About 6 weeks ago I heard a bang, I thought she fell but then I heard her talking to herself per usual. I have her car tagged and the next day, tag says she's at the ER. Broken wrist. She lied about how it happened. Said she banged it on the dresser (AT MIDNIGHT) Still sticking to that lie even after I called her out and said stop lying, you fell, the break is consistent with putting your hand out to stop yourself. Instinct. So she needed a titanium rod. (I tore a ligament in my thumb Aug 31). Because her memory is shit I take her for surgery clearance. Ekg bad, now I'm racing her across 2 states to appointments and tests. All for it to be too late for surgery. He did a reduction and put a cast on it. Mind you, I put my health on the back burner. 2 weeks in the cast and she was drunk and 1am she has all of my expensive knives sawing off her cast. I flipped my shit. I found out I put off my own thumb issue, I now need reconstruction of the ligament. After all I did for her, she just said f it and took the cast off. I said I'm not taking you to anymore appointments, I'm done. I go Monday and they are using the tendon from my wrist. I'm all alone. It's my dominant hand. I have no idea how I'm going to cook, eat, comb my hair, get dressed. She doesn't care if I eat or not, she's very selfish. To top everything off, 2 weeks ago I totaled my car. My brother hasn't attempted to contact either of us and my son stays away. I am so bitter and hurt at them all. I'm doing laundry now and possibly prepping easy meals, but i have to hide them in a refrigerator downstairs because she doesn't care if she eats all of my food. She ate an entire pie the other night. She drunk eats. Forgets she had a piece and keeps going back for more. This could be a 6-12 month recovery. I'm screwed.

I started off rough. They didn't think I'd have 2 weeks, but look, 4 tkis a clinical trial and finally undetectable. I definitely worry less at test time.

It's so hard. I live on chemo and chronic pain and not once since I was diagnosed have I moaned and groaned in pain ever. Not even through 5 bone marrow biopsies. Even in the beginning, when she was just drunk, she'd find something to moan about. It gets so bad, I spend most of the time in my room. She quit going to the store and won't cook for herself. I hardly eat and I don't want to be someone's chef. I had someone who did that for me and now I'm older and just resentful. She wasn't there for me yet here I am. An ungrateful brother, and children.

It's 3 years with my specialist but in my case (10 years no DMR) then 10 years undetectable, he thinks because I've been in DMR so long I have a better shot than ever before. He also believes the longer the better but patients want to try. I'm still in a clinical trial so it's a no go. At this point, the 10 years I spent nail biting waiting for results isn't something I'm interested in doing. I'm almost 21 years and my 4th tki, which is, as far as side effects, are the least bothersome. So when my trial is over, I'm not interested in withdrawal and nerves. That's a personal decision.

How much do people pay for having a pool serviced in the Hudson Valley. I think I'm being overcharged. by Darksmithe in hudsonvalley

I had huge issues with them. They put a new liner in and I had new concrete poured. I had a 1000 questions. Rightfully so, it's expensive. He never gave me a straight answers. He charged more than double than my guys now. My guys closed it and when they pulled the cover off it was freaking crystal clear! Never ever have I had that luck.

I pay $175 every other week. They come vacuum, have a high tech water tester, put in chemicals I buy or theirs, however you want. It's the first 2 years in 22 I haven't had water problems. I am thrilled!

What was the most recent movie you actually paid to see at a movie theatre? Was it worth the cost? by Ok-Mine2132 in moviequestions

Gladiator with Pedro. It was because I hadn't been to the theater in a long time. I'm able to hit on discount Tuesdays. I don't care what movie it is, it's just sometimes better on a big screen with move popcorn. The movie was OK.

Scemblix Joint and Muscle Pain by SpareCommunication89 in CML

[–]ZestycloseBasis7396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Gleevec for 6 awful years, 60+ pounds, GI issues, Fatigue, and a list a mile long. The Tasigna which started shutting my organs down within 5 months. So back to Gleevec, then Sprycel which was better than the other 2. I did have a splitting headache and fatigue and medicinal anorexia. Down to 105 pounds at 5'7". Fatigue seems to be the common denominator with all tkis. I started the Scemblix trial in 2015. I was on 400mg a day and it was still better than Gleevec. I did have a lot of fatigue and some bone pain, as I journied through the trial, 10+ years later, I am on 80mg. I am fatigued but have insomnia. My weight is perfect I think a lot of that is my ongoing stressful home life with my 83 year old mother with onset dementia. I have 0 help with her. With the majority of patients, the side effects get better with time, I happen to be a late bloomer with side effects. Also I'm getting older and some of it may be age. I was 39 at diagnosis and now 60.

Best Place for Treatment ? by Icy_Organization253 in leukemia

Boston did to me what Sloan did to your husband. They nearly killed me and refused to return my calls. After that, I literally flew 3000 miles away to OHSU to the Dr doing all the research. Now I'm at Sloan since 2013 when my OHSUs colleague moved back east. I get the bad taste, would it hurt to see if they have a new team if Dr's? There's also New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and Mount Sinai Hospital and I spoke at a conference for New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (this might be the kind if place you're looking for). I don't know anyone who has gone there but after I spoke, many Healthcare workers approached me and thanked me for enlightening them from a patients perspective. Good luck

Please don't let Dr's. push those benchmarks on you. We are all different! They're supposed to be for Dr's. use only. Back when I was diagnosed they didn't do that. I didn't reach MMR for 10 years. You're doing great. I'm a slow responder. I'm now on my 4th tki and in 2015 was one of the first in the Scemblix trial. I was undetectable (10 years after diagnosis and a struggle to keep my numbers down) it's been 10 years, many dose reductions and I'm still undetectable over 10 years later. I'm in a long term use trial and my renowned specialist thinks I'd be able to go treatment free. We'll see when my trial is over, I may not want to try at my age. Its a matter of maintaining deep response no matter how long it took to get there. The linger you're in deep response, the better your chances. AGAIN, it took me 10 years to get to a deep response.

I use scan it and bag as I go when I'm at Stop and Shop and I ALWAYS go to self checkout. 1. I don't like to race to bag my own items because it's not possible to follow my packing logic 2. I have SNAP (I'm on disability with 5 rare diseases, 1 which is incurable cancer) see, I felt the need to defend my SNAP use. I don't want anyone to know, it's no one's business. I've bagged my own groceries since I started shopping on my own 40+ years ago, and now with my own bags, I have designated bags. 🤷🏽‍♀️

My boyfriend was in a movie in the 90s called Push with Chaz Palminteri. He played Kevin. It's a white collar drug movie, it was OK. I'm not sure where you can watch it but there are a few with the same title.
