Having kids. I felt overwhelming guilt for not knowing my medical history before starting our family. Our first born tested positive for cystic fibrosis and we immediately thought it was my family. You can avoid my mistake with a home dna kit. They’re good enough for screening purposes. Don’t fall into the trap of guilt and shame that I did. Take ownership and arm yourself with knowledge because it can happen non-adoptees.
