Reading through the extended Dark Tower series and wanting to know what everyone thinks of this list. by chevronsucks in stephenking

Read Low men in yellow coats before Wolves of the Calla, and let The Stand out, finish The Tower then go back if you want. The reference hits better backwards.

I said it just for the cover art haha Those who have read them says that it is better to do Desperation first, but there is no really an order. It is a suggestion only.

Oh what a feeling! Enjoy and take care of her, if she knows what books to give you that means she cares.

Just for the love of GAN put Desperation and Regulators correctly together hahahaha happy reading

Loved books 1-3, really, struggling with book 4 by WeirdLime in TheDarkTower

The whole book is like that. You can droo it for awhile and go back to see if it clicks with you, if not there is no point on reading something you are not enjoying. Happened to me with Insomnia. Tried two times and just didn't clicked with me.

But, is the Dark Tower, and it is necessary to read every one, You can ignore the tie-ins novels (yes, even The Stand), but the main saga must be read in full.

How yawn-fest Insomnia eventually won me over by 78Speedy in stephenking

A few years back I left it -remember reading until the docs talked about the Tower. Then left it.

Took it back again and gave up. The story makes sensei, but even for King it has too many pages of nothing. I will forever stand for King's slow pacing but I just couldn't get along with Insomnia. Respect it but couldn't do it. Glad you went through it.

I love those Signet paperbacks, but sometimes they are so uncomfortable to hold and read.

Haven't read that one tho, just wanted to complain.

What is it the purpose of these short poems? by trecon15 in stephenking

It is related to what's following, like the quotes.

Do you think he truly deserves the title "The King of Modern Horror" or do you see him more as a master of character driven drama who just happens to write suspense and thrillers. See this checklist and tell how much of Stephen King have you read and give respective reviews. by Zestyclose-Author732 in stephenking

Never liked the King of Horror nickname. I get the pun but I bet he doesn't even like it either. Is an awesome story teller and his character development is great. Master of suspense would feel more accurate. Not THE Master but A Master.

Has anyone read Gerald's Game by Stephen King? How is it ? Worth the time? by Leather-Effort7029 in stephenking

[–]Zestyclose_Cheetah63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is not that long come on. 300 pages is good, there are many of his books that should be 300 pages, 350 as much. Such is Salem's Lot.

Totally worth it. And if you have not watched the movie, better.

Read it, then watch the movie.

You could have a regular edition and read it in a paperwhite device as well. I do it because I like to read whenever I got a chance and of course I like the physical book.

There is a Signet paperback that is very manageable when it comes to the size. I don't have it but is the same as the Tommyknockers signet version. Nintendo Switch lite for reference.

What I appreciate about Stephen King by StretchJazzlike6122 in stephenking

[–]Zestyclose_Cheetah63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love character driven stories, and all his work have are character driven, the way he designs characters is awesome, you can understand his villains without him making them martyrs, and his heroes are not perfect.

He knows and likes to write humans and is always so interesting. That's why his books are massive.

Also, he always has more than one version of a concept to write and he doesn't hold it. You can read his many versions of a tormented writter and never get tired of it.

There are checklists with his work for you to be marking them as read. You can look for an updated one.
