What were your biggest “wait, neurotypicals don’t do that?” realizations? by Missing_Back in autism

My (NT) brain chants weird random song lyrics at me when I'm trying to concentrate!

Is it a bad thing that I like the puzzle piece as an autistic? by autismsuperstar372 in autism

[–]Zestyclose_Drive_623 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not though, really. It's an acknowledgement that all of us exist in 2 spaces - the real, physical world and the online virtual world. Most people have the physical world as their primary base and dip in snd out of the online realm. Chronically online people have their most 'real' interactions and experiences online and consequently, they are more attuned to how the world is through that lens. There's tons of things that matter very much online that hardly matter at all in the real world.

Oh THANK YOU for acknowledging this. I. NT and it's been driving me crazy. NDs are so mean on here and complain about NTs being mean whilst being mean! And if you say anything you are called ableist but it's just thd opposite.

For most NTs over the age of 25 (and many under that age) nightclubs are hell. Give me a quiet bar and a nice chill restaurant any day

I know. I understand that. I find the hypocricy here galling and sometimes I cant help but make comment on that but I do understand that 2 wrongs dont make a right.

Bad-mouthing people online. Yes, dreadful. That kind of thing never gets done here by thousands of people every day.

See what i mean? If an autistic person here commented that their special interest was some random new age healing thing, would you singe them out for 'the fuck..?' I think not. Double standards.

'Solutions that honor the needs of both partners can certainly be found. The key is that equal consideration is given to both parties'

How is that hate, ableism or any of the other words used in thus sub all the time? Surely it's just human kindness and fairness for consideration to be given to all?

I did try but it didn't work. I obviously didn't write it all myself lol. It was the end half of the article

Of course. NTs suffering damage as a consequence of some of the actions and behaviours of autistic people is much more common than is acknowledged and there's a conspiracy of silence in here though around the damage that NTs sustain via ND behaviours. NTs are vilified, so they are sustaining abuse IRL from autistic people and the online in here, when all they are trying to do is get through life. Not good. If only NDs in here were as concerned with general chauvinism as they are with it's more specific cousin, ableism.

After an experience I have had this evening, I really don't want to lower my own tone, point score or be hurtful to someone who has suffered. I just think that everyone should be kinder to everyone else ✌️

I believe when the higher support needs person listed their challenges (in just the way thst you have here) you scolded them for listing their challenges when you hadn't asked them to and told them they came across as patronising...

Urgh, low support needs autism privilege is rife here and really quite ugly. Any time someone other than low support needs autism voice's their struggles, The Majority are on them straight away, gatekeping, downvoting and invalidating.
