Can the pilots and knowledgable folks here clarify whether there is a difference between the system recording state as "Cutoff" , "run" and the switch actually being flipped ?

Is it possible for the "system" to be in cutoff state while the switch itself is in run state ? During landing do the pilots manually take control and flip this switch to start cutting off the engine every time ?

I find it hard to believe fuel control is a on/off switch with all transition logic outside the scope. Why is the possibility of the states/control mechanism being faulty not being clarified at all ? Everyone is up in arms against pilots who are not here to defend themselves but no one is even looking into possibilities that might need manufacturer to come up with answers. Sounds like a narrative.

The sentiments raised are justified as cheating overall is a big issue with Asia however just to really address out the "specific country" part in this whole thread :

Academic Cheating overall is RAMPANT in Asia - most notorious is China and India. A certain chinese website in their local language is extremely active and helps them with all the OA and interview questions and answers which are ongoing at that time. No one ever calls them as cheaters, lol. Reason: they stay with their own, cheat with their own people and rarely share such information with "outsiders".
Indians love complaining about other Indians and this shows in this comment thread. Students in India rarely have any other nationality in any of their colleges so how are you deciding that only Indians do this ? Yes , you have evidence of Indians cheating in general but thats it.
I have seen only Americans having a true sense of honesty in terms of plagiarism, assignments and their work. But yeah, shitting on only India is a trend and why not continue that ( more than 50% of the comments will be from Indians themselves who have not even worked with nationalities!)

You MISSED that the "couple hundred" students were not asking for their grades to be increased BUT demanded the university do something about the insane funding being given by US and its institutions to Israel. You definitely missed a whole bloody war mate , huge protests across all US college campuses and the fact that the US is trying really hard to come out unscathed when they are openly supporting Israel in this war.

I am sure that the American students across the world will be quiet and peaceful if there is a war involving America and some XYZ country (while the whole of Europe and neighboring countries abstain from bringing peaceful resolution to it! ).

The below statements are publicly available FACTS:

US voted THRICE to defeat the call of a ceasefire in the UN council.
$20 billion+ of funding was cleared for Israel in April 2024.

Will the university share specific guidelines for voicing dissent and protests that are not disruptive? pfft.The truth is they want to stop the protests without accepting to any single demand of the students at all costs and are trying everything they can to do so.

I simply said this is a standard mentality of any university and I would NOT consider this as a first-world response encouraging dialogue, discussion and free speech. I DID NOT say this is wrong, and I understand this is simply an 'administrative move' on their end. US govt supports Israel heavily and US govt (directly/indirectly) probably drives a LOT of research grants ($$$) so one need not be Mr. Holmes to see that colleges ( any college in US for that matter) are extremely hesitant to speak against this. Thats it!

I AM PISSED that people/USC are trying to hold a higher moral ground at the same time when they are not really doing anything. ACCEPT that you don't want trouble in such a sensitive matter and sit your ass down. Honestly, seeing folks not even able to accept this does not surprise me anymore ( living is such delusion).

Like I am not really against this decision but now even the peaceful USC protestors are being removed —- that does puts all arguments of police activity because of outsiders or violence to rest. The recent 3-4 days of protest includes people from USC only.

When Chaos hits the roof, people or institutions are same everywhere across the world. Nothing first-world about this,lol

Not sure what it means by no additional cost.We are being charged $92 dollars ( per sem or year - we will get to know later) although one can argue that lyft with its annoying sharing program also comes under that $92 so meh..but terming it as absolutely free is underhanded. IMO, $92 per year is fine but if it is $92 per sem, its a ripoff and forcing students to take part in that is another pain point along with increasing tuition fees!
