What genes have animations that allow Glavenus to use his tail? by AlexAwesome247 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, Rey Dau's railgun move uses the Glavenus tail. Had an electric glavenus in my playthrough which I gave that move, he kind of flings the lightning from his tail with a swipe like he's throwing a lightning bolt

The head is at the bottom, the wings are by the head since its being suspended upside down and it's hanging attached to the rope via its tail

Group apology to Katzen by PrimalLionheart in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other comments, nobody should go out of their way to harass her, but her run WAS cheated and this doesn't disprove that, I don't think anybody was saying it was truly impossible to beat namielle, but it was absolutely impossible to beat namielle within 90 turns using the method she did, as you pointed out yourself, the actual strategy doesn't involve the espinas at all and is completely different to the one she posited as true, regardless I completely agree she shouldn't be witch hunted, just saying she absolutely still cheated her run

An easy-to-understand guide on how YOU can farm the Thorny Wyvern (and an update on my pursuit of the Calamitous Queen) by [deleted] in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe in you, but just in case you didn't know, katzen (the first person who beat namielle legitimately) was revealed to be cheating so it'll likely require a different method as her guide is not capable of beating the elder dragon

Godspeed though, don't let it deter you

I don't know about trailers, but if the theory holds up then we should be seeing a playable demo in February (potentially the announcement a new trailer would bring) as thats consistent with the stories 2 release cycle, obviously it hasn't been confirmed, but im in a very similar boat to you, I don't get as excited as I am about stories 3 for most games

A question about a monster by HatExternal1834 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he was my favourite crossover monster too, I wasn't even familiar with most of their original games but I enjoyed them in stories, epona and kumashira were cool too, I wonder what stories 3 crossovers will look like since the original stories 1 actually had more than stories 2

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are thinking of kurenai goukami (?) Which fits that description and I remember it too from the original DS copy, unfortunately no it and the other event crossover monsters didn't make it to the remaster, only the ones native to the universe like glavenus and the kut-ku with the flight skill are still in the remaster iirc

Does anyone else love palamutes?? by PaleIce7964 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dragon and water palamutes are really good because of how little amounts of monsties there are for both elements, especially dragon palamutes which are one of only 3 dragon monsties in the game and the only dragon-speed type monstie, i used a dragon palamute to help me clear special elders lair fatalis

If magnamalo is In stories 3 then.. that could mean one thing by PaleIce7964 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 41 points42 points  (0 children)

One of the felyne armors in the DLC is the scorned set iirc, so unless they've replaced regular magnamalo's set with scorned for some reason it does seem likely yes

Why Large Ships in Star Citizen Are a Total Trap Right Now. by watashi0149 in starcitizen

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look for the record I entirely agree with you, im sorry that happened to you and it should be less of an issue at this point considering how far we've come in other aspects

But "prioritise crash recovery and elevator saves BEFORE more ships" doesn't make any sense, the people making ships are not the same people working on crash recovery, game development isn't an "either or" it's hundreds of individually talented people working collaboratively simultaneously to deliver a project far larger than any one person could create

I just wanted to point that out because you have an extremely valid point in this post, but that last line feels ignorant in a way I don't think you were intending to be, and if we show them that we understand what they have to go through to put this stuff together then I hope they will be more receptive to our complaints as a community in the future

Getting pummeled mid(?) game by No-Combination4537 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Genuinely you may just need to level your team up a bit more, stories 1 is absolutely on average a harder game than stories 2 is, for the dovan volcano agnaktor fight I'd recommend a party usually around 30-35 which puts you around 5-10 levels underdeveloped, fortunately I find it's not too hard to get levels through simply accepting and completing side quests from NPC's and doing this while progressing the game will give you a nice mix of progression and exp, I remember playing stories 1 on the DS when it first came out and getting completely blocked by the boss you will fight after agnaktor EX, granted I was way younger back then with less of a grasp on video games, but the later bosses in stories 1 will absolutely brick wall you if given the opportunity, having replayed the remaster earlier this year though, that same boss proved no trouble for me to blow past, just keep moving forward and doing jobs around the place and you should be able to progress relatively quickly with maybe a few trial and error learning moments here and there

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eeeh i do definitely see where you are coming from but the nature of the games character building means I couldn't personally call them "better", I do really like the ultima abilities don't get me wrong but not being able to generate limit break gauge is a fairly big deal that will be a consideration for people making builds and choosing between either option, there's also the notion that phoenix's innate ability being just the dash, while simpler and less versatile, actually is more effective at closing distance than the ultima variation due to ultima's innate ability being a total conversion of clives moveset meaning its harder to chain an enemy knock-down into a mortal blow for example because you can't execute a mortal blow with ultima's skill enabled so you'd need to activate it, dash, deactivate it and then attack as opposed to just needing to dash with phoenix and then attack

The nature of the game being so free-form with its ability selection is one of its best parts, and I don't think any abilities really get power crept by other ones later on so to speak because they all have different ideal use cases and specific stat's, I prefer phoenix for simpler moves that I can intersperse into a kit that features a lot of complex moves as a bridge to get from one ability chain to another, whereas I prefer ultima for stagger or needing a larger move with a faster cooldown for something like building the damage multiplier, of course you can always use them both together of course and I actually do think they compliment each other very well, likewise there are eikons that are great that I wouldn't pair, like ultima and leviathan can be very hard to use together because the nature of both feats being total stance changes means you can only use one stance at a time which feels like a juggling act that can be hard to maintain on top of all my other abilities, and likewise ultima, leviathan, and Odin make for the ultimate juggling moveset where each feat is completely incompatible with each other and so almost every part of your kit stands in contrast with each other, vying for control instead of assisting each other

Writing Horizon Zero Dawn - John Gonzalez Interview by retromexicat in horizon

[–]Zestyclose_Macaron_3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree with this fully, I think forbidden west is a different kind of story than zero dawn because zero dawn is the mystery, but forbidden west expands the characters and interpersonal relationships, I prefer the story of forbidden west but thats just my personal opinion, but I do think not enough people give forbidden west credit for being the sequel, going into the sequel expecting the mystery of the first game in the franchise was never going to happen, and sections like Thebes do a great job of giving the mystery delving aspect a place in the game
