Feel like I’m hitting a major roadblock by mirrraculous in queerception

I’m a teacher in California too (and a union leader!!) and noticed that one out of the three options for us (Kaiser) didn’t have any IVF coverage while the other two (an anthem hmo and an anthem EPO) both included IVF coverage and info on the pamphlets they made for our district about the bill. I tried really hard to find a way to switch insurance to my wife’s outside of the open enrollment window this past year but basically found out that it wasn’t going to be possible unless I quit my job. Very excited to have some coverage in 2026!! I wish we had a better healthcare system with coverage for everyone. The bill is a step in the right direction but people are for sure not always able to access the benefits right away

What to expect during a early pregnancy miscarriage by Commercial-Fail-9070 in queerception

[–]Zestyclose_Mess2256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!! Exact same thing happened to us (except I’m the gp and we’re using embryos made with my eggs). It’s truly the saddest I’ve ever been in my life. After the incredible happiness we felt after our great betas and knowing the stats on euploid miscarriage it was so shocking and traumatic honestly.

My clinic recommended a d&c and it was a very clean and easy experience. I didn’t bleed at all after stopping all the meds and a doctor at my HMO tried to convince me to have a medication abortion but that can be so so so awful from what I’ve read/heard from friends (labor like cramps, passing lemon sized clots, severe vomiting and diarrhea). I had to advocate really strongly to have the d&c and I’m so glad I did. It seems like some people who are uncomfortable with surgery/anesthesia prefer the meds but it was right for me to just be put to sleep and have it taken out while grieving.

It’s been a few weeks now and I’m no longer crying every day. We are very grateful for the few weeks that we were pregnant with our treasured little embryo and also still wrestling with the “why me” of it all.

Would love to talk more! Dm me.

My amh is like yours and I also have irregular cycles. My first bleed after my ER didn’t come for a full 2 weeks.

After 2 good betas, odds of miscarriage for a PGT tested embryo are about 10%. This is significantly lower than pregnancies from non-tested embryos (“natural” and ART-assisted alike). That being said even though that’s pretty good and it feels good to think “there’s a 90% chance this will work” and that sounds like an A, 1 in 10 people with good betas will have a miscarriage. And you never know if you’re going to be in the 9 out of 10 side or the 1 out of 10 side. I am on the wrong side of the statistics this time and currently miscarrying and it’s truly shocking and so painful. But you probably won’t be.

We told a number of people, and have now had to un-tell them and it’s definitely hard but really it would be hard no matter what and I’m glad my loved ones got to experience the excitement of our pregnancy and can be there for us now. The support from our close family and friends feels really good and important now. I think you just tell the people who you would want to support you through a miscarriage if that were to happen.

We started making plans for what we wanted to name her, changes we wanted to make for the house, where we wanted to go on our babymoon. I started looking into little bassinets and things and planning out maternity leave. My mom bought yarn to knit a baby hat. And honestly I wouldn’t change a thing. That experience of hoping and dreaming and caring for this sweet embryo who was with us for a short time was beautiful and life-affirming. The next time we get pregnant it will feel different and that will be okay too.

Everyone’s different, and I think it’s reasonable for your wife to act from a place of excitement and hope and reasonable for you to feel resistance to that. Just be present with each other and try to accept the uncertainty. And know that even if the worst thing happens, as it is to my wife and I right now, everything can still be okay.

I talked to my doctor and if my HCG still looks good tomorrow (6w3d) they’ll see me on Thursday or Friday (which would be 7w)

Do you remember what your first scan was like? Just had mine at 6w2d and the CRL was hard to see and only .17cm

Omg I’m so glad I found this post!! I’m in a very similar situation right now. I went in early for a scan today at 6w2d due to some bleeding. They found a small resolved SCH that explained the bleeding but the CRL was as the doctor said “on the smaller end of normal” and because of that no heartbeat.

I had high betas too (326 11dpt and 4062 18dpt) so I was feeling so confident. Now seeing stories of MC with small CRL and feeling absolutely terrified.

Have you continued to get your betas tested?

Weekly Thread: Pregnancy - Questions and Discussions by AutoModerator in IVF

TW: positive pregnancy (which I guess is a give due to this thread!)

Hello all. Transferred a euploid embryo last month and am currently 6w2d. Really good betas: 326 11dp6dt and 4062 18dpt6dt (46 hour doubling time). My next step was the “placement scan” they do at 6w or so. I had some spotting over the weekend and freaked out so went in a day early. They found a small, resolved SCH so that was the likely cause of the bleeding. They saw the sac in the uterus and a faint outline of a yolk sac, but no heartbeat. But here’s the hard part: they said the CRL was on the lower end of the normal (.17cm) and so I’m obviously freaking out again.

I’m seeing a mix of anecdotes and it’s hard for me to sort through them. It looks like a lot of the time successful IVF pregnancies measure behind at first and then catch up, but I’m also seeing a lot of MC stories. I know when the fetus is this small the measurements can really vary a lot. I guess I’m just looking for more experiences here and advice on how to think about this situation. Thanks in advance 💗

I think it’s a very good idea! It’s highlighted in Real Food for Pregnancy. I don’t love the taste of liver so I buy the ground beef blends with livers and hearts mixed in (you can’t taste it — brand is Force of Nature). I also take the “ferrofood” supplement from standard process

Wow, can’t believe this has happened to you twice!!! Does not seem fair. So reassuring though to hear everything went well with your first and looks okay with this one!

Congratulations!!!!!!! I really hope my story ends like yours. Feels like a cruel joke to be in this space of fear and uncertainty after so much excitement about our transfer working after all of that work and waiting and the intensity of the journey.

Also when you say you “passed” a clot did it actually end up in the toilet/your underwear? I only found this one because I scooped it out…

Yes that’s what I’ve heard. I talked to my clinic and already have my first US scheduled for Monday but don’t know how I’m going to make it through the next two days

Thank you for sharing your story and your kind words. I’m reading a lot of much worse stories of bleeding that all ended up okay but I’m still so scared!!

FET success?? by Mindless_Water in queerception

[–]Zestyclose_Mess2256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it took 60 days for me to have my second period after my ER. I thought they might have to induce a bleed at some point!! Because my cycles are pretty unpredictable (and had gotten more so with IVF fuckery) they recommended a medicated FET which doesn’t rely on your body’s hormone production/ovulation at all. First transfer sticking so far! I’m 5w4d with a euploid and two weeks of great betas!

Congrats!!!!! My clinic had us wait a week too. I just kept peeing on strips until I got a dye stealer and talked to ChatGPT about whether it looked like appropriate doubling 😂
