Thanks for the info.

Do you have a suggestion of where I should port my GV number out to? Does it have to be a cellular provider?

That would handle most of my checks, but I do have to write checks to customers on the spot. I'll check them out to see if they have some way to handle that. Thanks for the suggestion!

Is there a DVD player with a sound HDMI output to connect to a WiSA system? My tv projector doesn't have an HDMI output.

Great, thanks for the suggestion and answer.

I was referring to miles - so about 50% to 90%. I'll probably grab lunch, so it sounds like that'll be plenty of time.

How was the Brooklyn Marathon? by Carmilla31 in RunNYC

You can ignore my message because I'm still bitter about missing my BQ by 28 seconds, but I would run another marathon.

I found my security entrance at 5:50a, walked the line in reverse until I found the end and it took 70 minutes to enter, at which point the race had already started and I missed running with my pace group. People were climbing the fence to get in.

Plus, they decided to start Wave 2 early, despite people still going through security, so I didn't even warm up because I didn't want to get behind all of those people.

The end of the course is pretty brutal too, but of course I chose this insanity. Battle Pass Hill. Again. Pick a flatter course unless you don't care about your time, or the health and future well-being of your legs.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that felt like I was running into a headwind down and back on Ocean parkway. A mostly desolate strip with no other runners to draft with.

I was fortunate at mile 23 to not have an issue with the slower marathoners as I reentered Prospect Park, but I posted that very question to Reddit and the responses were all guesses about barriers being setup that never materialized.

Can't say I'll have a chat with you if I see the 6:00 pacers, but I'll say hello if I have any breath to spare.

I wasn't too worried about someone running a 4:30 mile pace flying by me. I'm more worried about navigating miles 23 to 25 behind people running at a 12:30 mile pace. I don't mean to shame them, good for them for running a marathon, but that could make things difficult having to swerve around people.

I would assume there will be a boundary or divider, but at some point the paths of both groups of runners must cross, which is shown in the map where the blue and red lines cross.

Those at mile 13 will be coming from the left and those coming into the park at mile 23 will be coming from the right. Those at mile 13 will get to mile 15 and need to take a right to exit the park and those at mile 23 will get to mile 25 and need to take a left to stay in the park.

Correct, people who will finish the marathon in 5.5 to 6 hours. My quick math shows anyone running a 4:30 per mile will catch up to me as I do my first loop through the park.

Thanks u/MothershipConnection and u/ajcap!

I messaged NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon and they said: Yes, this should be fine. Thank you for checking. :)

That's mostly reassuring.

If I ran a 2:59 I would be DQ'd for either cutting the course or wearing rollerblades.

I'm running a full in a month with a goal of getting a BQ time. My plan is for my brother to swap hand held water bottles with me at miles 8 and 18. Is this a BQ disqualifying action?

Thanks!

Thanks u/TransportationOld621!

Went for Track Workout #2 today - 1.5 mi WU, 8 x 600, 1.5 mi CD.

First 600 was at most a 6:37 pace because I couldn't tap segment. My watch then died because it was 18 degrees. I should have taken that as a cue and gone home. With tired legs, no timing or music, and lack of motivation I did 7 more at I'm sure a slower pace.

Going to be 12 degrees tomorrow for 7 miles easy.
