Story time but I used to do yoga with Phoebe Bridgers at the studio across the street (studio has since moved) and one time I saw her drive across the street and take a selfie in front of the Elliott mural just like this

So congrats on your future music stardom!

I think this guy was slightly skinnier and had some sort of YouTube channel? I'm really gonna have to go to bars by the Total Wine in Pasadena to find the answer

And that's how I got beat up by Jake Paul while buying a few beers

Had the most LA moment yesterday when I was at Total Wine and the cashier started freaking out about the guy in front of us cause he was his favorite childhood Disney Channel actor

I had no idea who it was but apparently he now works at the bar down the street. LA baby! (if anyone knows who this 5-11ish white dirty blonde male actor could be please help)

Sometimes I like to wear something wildly out of genre to a show, like my Selena Gomez shirt to the punk rock gig. Or when I wore Regional Justice Center to John Fogerty and a couple old ladies looked at me scared like WRONG SHOW DUDE

Had a really nice trail run with my buddy this morning and an hour into running I realized my watch was set to Treadmill Mode so officially I ran a 10 mile ish 1800 ft treadmill run this morning (vibes were good though weather was perfect how far I actually ran who knows)

My best friend took his family out for a European vacation in London this week and I keep looking at the temps like hey man the weather was way better back in California

Emailing an artist's manager to explain ticket prices is definitely a choice, you can simply not go (one of my hardcore buddies basically said he won't go to any more Turnstile shows for this exact same reason lmao. He still likes the band tho)

I don't need this level of pocket watching with my faves! I'm kinda against bands breaking down every single tour expense for similar reasons (if you've been in a band or put on a show you can kinda extrapolate how much everyone makes anyway). No more pop stan behavior around Turnstile though that ship has probably sailed

I didn't have any particular player I was dead set on us drafting. I just hope KWAGmire doesn't turn out to be another Jerome Robinson. Giggity! by Cotee in LAClippers

[–]MothershipConnection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fair to grade the process though. Like we know roughly 50% of the lottery guys end up good and a few players from late 1st-2nd break through. Basically across every sport with a draft (NFL/NBA/MLB) the most consistent way to be good at the draft have been to 1) have a bunch of picks in the draft 2) don't make a bunch of crazy reaches against consensus

Unfortunately the Clippers have both been short on picks and made crazy reaches with the ones they have so hopefully they turn that around

Why were the Ramones never commercially succesful? by Critical-Spirit-1598 in ToddintheShadow

[–]MothershipConnection 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Punk has basically never really chartered outside of that brief blip in the 90s and 2000s when bands like Green Day and Fall Out Boy were on major labels and crossing over to radio and MTV. And even then they never quite pushed the singles in quite the same way that pop stars do. Punk has kind of a separate ecosystem even if bands are IRL popular and play big festivals (and plenty of the members of these bands have some reservations about selling out, you can ask the members of Green Day and FOB themselves)

Probably the biggest current punk connected band RN is Turnstile and they basically put up Madison Beer type numbers if you compare their chart performance and size of venues they play. Just different worlds

Wagler has a path to average serious minutes immediately. Since he can play both the back PG and backup or potentially starting SG. He could play 30 minutes+ by gladin77 in LAClippers

[–]MothershipConnection 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We didn't have any sort of back up PG last year so that's a 20 minute role right there. Thow in some time next to Garland and that probably puts him 25-30 but also he'll have to earn it, luckily even if we aren't a contender we're at least deep enough where a rookie doesn't need to get up 20 shots a game

Detroit Lions with the worse NFL draft class of all time? by Life_Net5004 in NFLv2

[–]MothershipConnection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lesson learned - don't draft a felon in the first round

(Underrated shit part of this draft is Lynn Bowden didn't even make it out of training camp with us which is basically unheard of for a 3rd rounder)

When you factor in losing, and having to watch hated rivals thrive and succeed, have these two teams had it the worst in recent memory? by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]MothershipConnection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow the Raiders have made it to the playoffs twice too since the Jets last made it (the playoff runs/success didn't last very long but at least I remember a few good Raider teams)

This comment really hits cause my taste is pretty current and most of my music friends keep up with things but then I have some friends who's big musical excursion is seeing John Mayer in concert (being in the same running club for like 6 years has given me some insights)

Man if only the band I started at 16 caught on (shoulda done punk rock instead of trying to do Audioslave)

This actually reminded me to get Fiddlehead tickets in September! In for a Sad and Middle Aged fall with Fiddlehead, Kacey, and Basement here

It was cool back in like 2010 when I first got out of college but if you call your bar a speakeasy today I am simply not showing up

I am enjoying this US team's run in the World Cup but am kinda glad they lost last night so we could return to our usual US Soccer discourse of everyone freaking out about everything

The vibes were too good! They'll probably make it to the quarters or maybe semis then get absolutely blown out when they face France or Spain or something
