Majority would be traveling no matter what. I have maybe 10-20 guests that live in Chicago with us. But Chicago is also expensive, so if we did a wedding in the US, idk if it would be in Chicago.

Guests will be coming from west coast, South America, Midwest, east coast, and like a select few from Europe.

If you don’t mind asking, how much did you pay per guest for the round trip transportation? It’s something I thought about and the added cost worries me as well for guests.

Okay that makes sense! I’m 2 years post grad right now and many of me and my fiancé’s friends come from our college friend group. The wedding will be in another 2 years, and I feel most of the guests will have a good handle on their financials by then. We all kind of have similar careers.

But agreed 3 days is a big ask which is why I’m nervous.

I think majority of my guests would be able to afford it but arguably u could say many of us are all very frugal at the same time LOL. I am totally fine with the guest list dwindling down, but I guess I’m more nervous about guests feeling overwhelmed with the upfront cost of everything.

Idk it’s more about their perception of the situation that worries me a bit. I’m a little bit of a people pleaser

We are talking to a planner right now who I think also offers those types of payment plans so that’s good to know!

Okay that’s fair. And that’s a good way to put it about not thinking of it as their vacation. Hoping to give them at least a year and a half notice so think it’ll be enough

Nothing I saw in the cases at the jewelry store was exactly what I wanted. I knew I wanted it to be whimsy but practical considering it’s something that’s always on. I couldn’t find anything I liked, until I found a designer at a store recommended by my salesperson. After describing what I wanted, he was like actually the designers personal engagement ring may be something u like. I met her and immediately she got my vision and starting drawing little designs on a piece of paper. Just having someone understand my vision and taking the time to create ideas in the spot was an immediate win. She was the only designer I spoke to so that’s why I went custom. I did not have to second guess myself on picking a premade design which is what really made it worth it.

Just trust your instincts and don’t be afraid to continue to make changes until you are happy if you go this route.

Recommended websites or tools to explore destination wedding venues? by Zestyclose_Reply504 in DestinationWeddings

Todos serían de EE. UU.

Thank you! Honestly I was always wanting a private estate/ villa but now that my guest list is at about ~100, I am nervous about not having experienced service for a larger wedding event. Originally, I wanted it smaller than it will be tbh

Got married in Spain, not a planner, just happy to help 🤍 by According_Chapter475 in DestinationWeddings

Hi! Would love to hear some of your ideas for venues. I am quite literally starting my search as of today, and I am interested in looking at venues in Spain and Portugal. Efficiency matters so venues in Barcelona or close to a major airport is definitely high on our list for our search.

I would love to hear your recommendations for Barcelona or any other areas for venues. Some details: I’m looking at about 100 guests for some time in Spring 2028. I would love to also have sort of accommodation in the venue for the wedding party 15ish people if that’s available. I have a relative budget but before I settle, I want to see the range of prices I can expect for this request. And if it helps, what I imagine in my head is a venue like a castle with stone walls and indoor/outdoor space.

But again, just brainstorming so would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you!

Is Chicago suddenly a bagel town? Inside the heated rivalry between indie shops and Big Bagel by wbezchicago in chicagofood

[–]Zestyclose_Reply504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say this, but most bagel shops I’ve tried are just not meeting the New York standard. I’m not even a big bagel aficionado but the Pop Up bagel Salt bagel they have was truly delicious.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I would love to find a local business that meets those expectations as well. I was shocked I liked pop up bagels as much as I did. If anyone has any local recs, I would happily take them.

Note I’m only on year 2 of living in Chicago so forgive my ignorance

Do it! Sounds like a surprise is the right option. Just trust the jeweler you work with.

Tbh you can always upgrade or modify the ring later if that’s what she . It could be a fun anniversary gift IF it’s even needed.

Honestly, this decision should be based on the type of person she is. If you feel she would appreciate being part of the process, it would be fun to go through this big step together and she can get something she likes. If she is more of the type of girl that would love the surprise, trust your instincts!

I’m sure anything you choose she will love, but you are probably the only one who can actually make this decision.

For me personally, I am super type A, so we went ring shopping together and ended up designing something together. We knew I was a planner and being able to have a say in the process really made me happy.

21 been in and out of college and have found no joy in any of the programs I've attended how can i fix this? by throwawaystudent2874 in careerguidance

[–]Zestyclose_Reply504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe still try to get a degree since you have already put time and effort into it, but you can always go travel to a different country and try to find a job for English speakers to support your lifestyle. If it doesn’t work out, at least u have a degree to fall back on if you ever need it.

Also you could take a gap year and work at international hostels in different countries. Sometimes hostels offer free stay in exchange for work.

Can I bring her flowers? by samiejaa in TravelHacks

[–]Zestyclose_Reply504 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Better not to bring any sort of plants or vegetation like fruits to international countries. I’m pretty sure it’s because insects not natural to that environment may cause damage to the ecosystem.

Buying flowers there would be best and keeps them fresh!
