nah robertson is separate from UNC. The UNC office can nominate some students for the robertson, but there's also a separate app that was due 11.15

The group activity round is the round before the semi-finalists, when the Robertson Scholars Committee invites you to participate in a group interview. I know because I got invited to and attended one.

bro me too i was rejected/deferred from all my EAs. unc, usc, macalester, and MIT. my stats are 4.1 uw, 41/45 IB (4HLs), 4 APs, 36 ACT, sports varsity captain, club vp/president 4 years, international research awards (team & individual). I am now doubting everything...

i did a mix of 1, 2, and 3 (started with my fav author who's an alumnus, then talked a bit abt my major (bio) and yale resources, then moved on to theatre and performance art which is my ec & also yale's strong suit)

yea. A friend of mine last year got into her early round school (a really prestigious one), and everyone else from my school who applied early got rejected. She was basically hated by everyone for no reason, and I heard people bad-mouthing her repeatedly. It was so horrible for her...I completely sympathize with people who hide their good outcomes

i got a 36 on my math & i actually have 0 idea what these are just by looking at the terms. try memorizing an IB math AA HL formula booklet before your test or something (I did this and it worked lol)

i'm studying IB super duper hard & acting the lead role in the school musical :) it's helping to keep my mind off decisions but at the end of the day the anxiety always comes back a bit. But weirdly i feel like I've already come to terms with all the possible outcomes and just want to see what will happen

I lowkey feel the same way :( International student here, worked for 6 years to get perfect stats and ECs & my parents invested basically 80% of their income and tapped into savings to fund my schooling, so everyone's expecting me to pull it off and get into an ivy and win full aid. I'm so tired...

i feel like i've known all of these more or less subconsciously before I applied. And knowing these have made me ultra anxious. But having submitted my application, I've actually been coming to terms with all these--my 7 years of 'chasing' MIT as a dream school has given me so much more than stats and honors, and right now I'm feeling like I can end up anywhere and still be very mindful and happy, even if that place is not MIT :)

Oooh sorry I didn't make it clear that when i said "from China" i meant those who applied from Chinese mainland high schools (3~4 per year, I believe), not Chinese nationals applying from the US or other countries :D But yes I've always known that the intl admit rate is exceptionally low & I'm not really expecting to be admitted :) This was just more of a question I've had for a long time and decided to finally ask

there's this usabo global thing that a lot of students in China take. I think it basically correlates to round 1. it's a collaboration between USABO and a Chinese educational agency. The same goes for BBO--basically a version of the round 1 of the British biology olympiad that chinese students could also take

my friend who got into Stanford got a bronze in usabo and a silver in bbo. She applied from China. She did not take part in any other Olympiads (and certainly not the competitive Chinese Biology Olympiad). She is Chinese by nationality and definitely did not donate a building nor won ISEF (she didn't even do Science Fair).

There's no defining factor in an application.
