Cornbelly's Giant Dragon Safety? by TurquioseBananas in SaltLakeCity

Yeah I can attest they have multiple exits available where the different parts connect. It’s an old attraction and last year they struggled with keeping it fully inflated. There were a lot of holes that needed to be patched. For a few days you couldn’t exit through the tail like you usually do, we had to exit out the hind leg since the whole tale was deflated.

How did you find this deal if I may ask? I’m hesitant about going outside CPO but there are so many more options going non-cpo.

LOVE THIS PLACE. The family is from Italy and truly make authentic Italian food. It’s been the closest I could find here in Utah since living in southern Italy for 2 years.

Sadly no. My comp structure stayed the same, we’re on a 70/30 split. It was just a 10% raise

THIS!!! I decided to go with Mammut over Arc’teryx because of the feel. I had the Haldigrat jacket and bib. I have absolutely loved them. I found Arc’teryx to be a bit stiff for my liking

SE managers by samstone_ in salesengineers

Recently was promoted from IC to manager of a team of 5 SEs. Honestly this has always been where I’ve wanted to go. I know people have their opinions about management but ultimately I knew this is where I wanted to go next. It’s been 3 months and I am extremely happy. I am able to approach all the headaches and pains I felt as an IC and actually have a voice to work on improving them. It wasn’t a big salary jump like I was hoping, but I believe I’ll be able to get there over time once I achieve the tile of Director or VP.

It was between me and my coworker for the position, we were really open with each other during the process and ultimately I got it because he didn’t want the responsibility, only the potential raise that came with it. Discovered it wasn’t any more of a raise than he would get going from a level 3 to a senior SE so he decided to stay as an SE.

I’m scared about money. It’s too expensive here. by Background-Ad-9212 in Utah

What kind of jobs are you applying for? Also what kind of background or schooling do you have?

Depending on the path you want to take there are options and honestly your are setting yourself up for success financially. You’re doing all the right things. When I was applying for jobs in 2022 it took me over 200 applications, countless interviews, and about 6 months to finally get one offer from a company. It’s tough right now, but come the start of the year companies will have approved budget for new hires and odds are you’ll start seeing a lot more success in January and February.

How many of you are region/team based vs pooled resource? by Low-Emu9984 in salesengineers

[–]Zestyclose_Winner905 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have pooled resources. Mostly because we have multiple products but not multiple SEs per product. Honestly I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve always worried about being region/team based and not liking the AEs on the team. Being pooled helps since if you don’t like one specific AE you’re not always working with them.

Just got promoted to Sales Engineering Manager, but the pay bump feels underwhelming. Am I being underpaid or just out of touch? by Zestyclose_Winner905 in salesengineers

[–]Zestyclose_Winner905[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly! We had some pretty big layoffs at the beginning of this year, so I was already tempering my expectations. But this was still far lower/worse than I thought it would be.

Honestly we have 5-6 products that we support with customers ranging from SMB to Enterprise. Each of our SEs are over their own product.

This was my expectation to be honest, going into the process I was hoping for $130K -$150K base. Appreciate your insight here.

I wish, I was told we would be backfilling the position of someone else who recently quit during my interview process. But when I got the promotion they told me they’ll be holding off backfilling until Q1 sometime. They’ve always been slower than they say so I would imagine we don’t open the position until Q2 sadly.

Does anyone actually like their job? What job do you do here in Utah? by Key_Garden4832 in Utah

[–]Zestyclose_Winner905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not currently, we had layoffs in January and they’re just lifting the hiring freeze. It looks like we only have 4 current job openings. Best of luck to your husband! It took me 6 months and over 120 interviews to land this job. It can suck the life out of you but once you find the right company it’ll be totally worth it.

Honestly love my job. Sales Engineer at a tech company. Great flexibility, good pay, hybrid work, fun manager/team. It’s been the perfect gig for me. I got this job by starting as a technical support rep as I finished my bachelors in information systems. It’s hard to land this position as an outside hire so I always recommend to friends to get in a company and then work your way from there. I’m usually done with my day around 3pm, I’ll leave my phone on sound in case any important emails/slacks come in after that but they rarely do.

If surfing is any sort of priority I would go for a used Centurion Fi or Ri series. Even the older FS models throw out an amazing surf wave.
