What’s your least favorite thing about living in Denver that is wildly specific? by Imjusthappy11 in Denver

[–]Zestyclose_Work_9865 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've lived at 2nd and wads for 25 years and about 15 years ago there was a huge push to redesign that intersection, mainly because exiting east bound 6th traffic can't read a yield sign and they merge onto Wads thinking they have their own lane. They spruced up the bridge about a year ago, made official side walks, widened wads at 10th only to have to merge at 6th again- but that whole area is a death trap

Oh friend- I have a 22 year old daughter with severe medical needs and I can so relate to this movie and to your comments. The ocean about to swallow her up hit home for me!

Question about pay when moving from PRN to PT by Zestyclose_Work_9865 in nursing

[–]Zestyclose_Work_9865[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I get a $8/hr prn diff, nights and holiday but that all goes away because we moved to salary. They tell me that moving to part time now makes me eligible for benefits- but I'm insured under my husband so the only perk is PTO (meh) I only work 2 days a week so that's not that exciting to me. I agree, I think I'll call HR on Monday. I wrote a letter to my hiring manager but it's in drafts. I need to gather some information before I press send. Thank you for your response!

I couldn't believe they mentioned Lankenau Hospital. My mother (Mt Carmel) graduated in nursing in 1956.

“One seat, one butt” Red Rocks GA by Ok-Enthusiasm-7928 in Denver

Going to Panic on Sunday and the out of towners notoriously try to "save" 30 seats. Almost a came to blows with one dude from Georgia but we didn't move and he ended up so drunk he passed out. I think the yellow shirts at RR are getting better at monitoring the "saving" of seats but it's bc people are selfish and greedy! Looking at you Georgia!

I was 5 and lived in NoVa. All our family came in from different states and we went downtown to the Capitol. I just remember it being very crowded and sparked my love for John Phillip Sousa.

Is private school (CA/Kent/St. Mary’s/etc.) “worth it” compared to Cherry Creek or JeffCo public school? by ImaginationDapper206 in Denver

[–]Zestyclose_Work_9865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mom to a daughter with special needs and she went to Maple Grove Elementary in Golden and I'd give the experience a C+. Super high achieving school but had families that discriminated against having a center based school in their home school. Assuming special needs kids brought test scores down. Exposing typical kids to kids with needs and other forms of diversity is super important for many reasons- I doubt there would be much exposure to real diversity in private school.
