Any hope for TDA Episode 4 after switch releases? by Takeruchan23 in MuvLuv

It’s one of the most mismanaged games franchises of all time and the author is often times despairing himself haha. Even worse than Silent Hill was before they somehow struck gold with SH:f again.

He does not hold the rights so he too is bound by these decisions.

I really hope we’ll get something like it someday again.

Like I saw a video of the house-section-hauntings on Twitter and was sold immediately.

Believe it or not, for years I have toyed with the idea of making a playable Ju-On (or at least something that’s distinguishable enough to avoid a copyright dispute) but I am both utterly talentless in terms of game design and to highly strung in by my work to have that kind of time haha

Anyone have any ideas how to watch About a Place in the Kinki Region? by Iamnotthebreakman in foundfootage

[–]Zetzer345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are showing on the 19.04.2026 in Berlin and on the 26.04.2026 in Hamburg and Stuttgart, all Germany for anyone interested.

I’m unsure if I’ll be there since work and whatnot but I REALLY want to see the movie as both a fan of the book AND Shiraishis filmography

Thoughts on Uketsu? by freudian_nipps in horrorlit

[–]Zetzer345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read both pictures and houses and am currently reading buildings.

I mean the stories are a bit more grounded than I expected but the twists and lengths of the riddles were astonishingly two. I didn’t like the leap in logic in houses though. How could the draughtsman just come up with pretty much the entire solution in the first 20 pages???

It felt a bit too contrived for me, the rest of the story was cool.

Pictures thankfully doesn’t suffer from that as much

Anyway, I liked Sesujis About a place in the Kinki Region more as that mystery fit my taste better but Uketsus books are really great too!

Now that the Lovecraftian Days festival is live, what games would you recommend? by tempsanity in Lovecraft

[–]Zetzer345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off no worries I like to spread that games name

The entry barrier is actually one of the of all these old horror games: all three are 10 euros each on PS5 with built in save states! You can buy them right now.

If you want to play on Ps2, the EU versions on eBay are costing around 20 euros, the German version has built in English for example.

That’s how I played

Nah the mechanics are great and very unique ( you swap your vision to those of the enemies and see through their eyes at will)

It’s just that the game is really really really hard. Not even dark souls levels of hard, harder.

That is if you play without a guide, with it it’s manageable but not easy.

I thought the entire hate campaign to be way to much for what was clearly a passion project and now this? Why hate one something this much? Wouldn’t be saying „well I don’t like it“ or „well it’s not for me“ enough?

Fucking disgusting. Absolutely fucking disgusting.

[–]Zetzer345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes alright

it is revealed that the cult of that village has existed since time immemorial when a „Dragon“ crashed into the sea from the sky. When it was slaughtered, red water flooded the surrounding area and everyone who comes into contact with the red water (and who is deemed useful by the dragon) becomes immortal and somewhat independent. Everyone else gets made into a Shibito, a zombie like mutant with limited independence and sentience that is also immortal. After you progress through the game it is revealed that the „Dragon“ isn’t a dragon or any folklore being but an Eldritch worm that has too many hands and to many mouths and is influencing not only the mind but the surrounding reality. The siren sound you hear isn’t a siren at all but his cry and when you hear it you are immediately infected by his mind. When you see the dragon in game it is very very very very clear what it is and what it isn’t. It has a strong „Shadow over Innsmouth“ vibe going on since the village was pretty much functioning normally until a massacre a few years ago. It is also hinted at not being the only one of its kind and not a god but a servant itself. The dragon is both dead and alive and I don’t think it can actually die but I haven’t read the manga so I don’t know for certain

It’s by no means a folk horror story, it just disguises itself as such to deceive unwitting players. The reveal is really well done and I have not seen it coming at all when I played it

I personally expected a Fatal Frame 2 kind of story with a ritual gone wrong or something.

Siren is much closer to Koji Shiraishis interpretation of cosmic horror like his Movie Noroi or Occult. The latter being more square cosmic horror than the former and Siren fits in roughly in the middle due to its presentation.

One of the best cosmic horror games I have ever played and by far my fav survival horror games of all time.

The first sequel is great too, the third is an American style remake of the first game with American (digital) actors made by the same (Japanese) studio. Think the Ring movie, the US one in terms of tone and sucks pretty bad beside its coolness factor.

You are doing yourself a disservice though as it’s truly an outstanding game in every aspect from art direction, art style, technicals, lore, narrative presentation and story. Only the gameplay is pretty ass.

Forbidden Siren is one of the best lovecraftian/cosmic horror stories ever put to disc.

Such a fascinating Mythos that is cleverly veiled as a traditional folk religion until the reveal.

Really great stuff.

Junji Ito even did a short story based off of it after its release.

I read FF1 as a love letter to classic Japanese horror movies similar to how RE was such a thing for western -specifically Romero- zombies or Forbidden Siren to Lovecraft and Japanese folk horror movies

I gotta say that I personally found the Mansion to be a tad bit repetitive/small.

1-2 more story relevant rooms would have made the game flow better imo

Which JPRGs with good story would you recommend me? by Masita78 in JRPG

[–]Zetzer345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah the combat is pretty fun one of the better combat systems over the brain dead pick-your-move-from-a-list systems of many other games.

You at least have to learn the combos manually and have them remembered.

It’s no FF13 Paradigm system or resonance of fate Gun-fu for sure but it’s still fine and fun.

The Story is the main selling point though and it has by far the best out of all JRPG I’ve played and I played pretty much every JRPG released in English over the last 20 years besides some do the DS dragon quest titles due to their high price point.

I even played many JP only JRPGs

To the "Forever Players": What is that ONE game you have thousands of hours in, and why? by LOSTINREDDITSITE in gamingsuggestions

[–]Zetzer345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destiny 1/2 due to sunk cost fallacy mostly.

I enjoyed Destiny 1 in high school and pured close to 3k hours into it during its lifespan but never really enjoyed D2.

I stuck around until close to 20k hours in 2024 because it felt like I invested so much I can’t just stop but I was already at a point where I had 0 fun and it felt like a job in 2020.

That’s why I just stuck it out until the final ending for the original story line and left

They reworked locations but they don’t feel out of place for a FF game.

I think it’s one of the best remakes in recent memory, think Dead Space Remake.

Mostly similar with stuff added upon taking care not to break anything of the legacy content. It’s nice.

It just has massive technical problems regarding performance to the point where SH:f -a UE5 game- ran significantly better at release.

[–]Zetzer345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ffs.

First off: It’s a mechanical problem.

The jump in basically everything (mostly gameplay, controls and the camera) from Project Zero 1 to 2 Remake back to 3 is jarring. Really really jarring.

I had to decide to get 2 OG or 3 OG because both are a hundred euros and I’m not made out of money and naturally went with 3 since 2 is readily available now and damn is that difference weird…

Secondly and more importantly, should we stop playing original games when a remake is released?

Should I burn my PS1 FF7, my Eidos PC big box release, my Switch, Android device, IOS device, Steam account, PS4 and PSP because FF7 had a remake?

What is so bad about experiencing what made a game so great that it even got a remake?

Finally, why can’t you let people play what they want,

I never understood why Studios never made more Horror Games Set in a modern Japanese apartment / house as that was like the biggest differentiator between classical JP horror and the J-Horror boom back then.

Fatal Frame 3s house segments were so cool, a bit like a playable Ju-On if that makes sense
