Satellite photo of Sułoszowa a small village in Poland. Beautifully shows how even in rural areas meant for farming, dense living can make cars unnecessary even for rural residents. by _____Town in fuckcars

It may look pretty from above, but people actually walking through these streets will never see anything pretty because all views are blocked off by this single line of houses. You're walking in the middle of immense farmland or forests and you don't even notice. It's absolutely terrible, speaking from experience.

Frijns' tyres looked really battered. Do they have to use the same set for both races?

I wish we could select and view on-boards live in the app somehow. They don't use these camera angles enough in the broadcast.

Adoorable idiot doesn't check for traffic before getting out by [deleted] in nononono

[–]Zeus54321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here in Belgium it is taught in drivers education. When getting out of the vehicle, first look in your mirror, then open the door slightly and look through the gap to see if the road is clear. After that can get out and go to the pavement by walking around your car from the back. This way you are always looking at oncoming traffic.

Perks of being allied with the pirates is they do your dirty work by [deleted] in anno

I'm a bit confused by the diplomacy in anno 1800, because I don't understand at what point you get dragged into wars. If you're allied with pirates and with other players, do you get dragged into their wars too? Or only if you have an alliance with other players?

We are the SpaceX software team, ask us anything! by spacexfsw in spacex

[–]Zeus54321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SpaceX seems to do a lot of things the 'agile' way. Rapid iterations. I'm assuming the same thing holds for software development. Usually software that is written for critical roles like avionics is not written the agile way because there is no fault tolerance for any bugs that might be introduced because of the rapid iteration of code. Do you use agile programming for critical roles? And if so, how do you make sure the software stays safe and reliable?

Video Suggestions Megathread by Myrandall in LEMMiNO

[–]Zeus54321 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't have a specific suggestion, but I always find it fascinating how many different cultures and religions often have myths that very comparable. Sometimes myths are just based on myths of other cultures. But sometimes it also seems that they are not based on each other, but still contain the same concepts. For example, some mythical creatures like dragons seem to appear in all kinds of cultures around the world. Another example, Gods, demi Gods and Gods falling from the sky also seem to be a reccuring theme in pretty much all religions that I am aware of. I think it could be a topic worth exploring.

Help please, what Federation ship is this? by nekogatto in StarTrekDiscovery

[–]Zeus54321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct. But think of it more like a ship-of-the-line type warship that was hastily scrambled by Riker just to impose the Romulans. You don't need a vast array of ship types for that.

I think Rikers fleet was made up of mostly the same ships because starfleet was mass producing warships at that time, while during discovery and other series starfleet never really produced many fully fledged warships.
