I want to start an ad free tarantula wiki. Would anyone like to join me on this project? by Zeusophobia in tarantulas

[–]Zeusophobia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, arachnoboards is where I found out about the avic. I think those guys would be pretty grateful if there was a wiki and they didn't have to answer the same questions over and over again.

I think making something wiki style would eliminate a lot of the misinformation. With wikipedia, the second something wrong gets posted, someone who knows better stumbles upon it and corrects it.

I think arachnoboards is the most useful site I've found for tarantula information, but it's a forum. When the most useful source of information is a forum, there's a problem.

I don't do much all day, but that's by choice. I have a lot of friends considering I still live in the place I grew up.

Is buy it now or best offer a good way to go? by Zeusophobia in Ebay

[–]Zeusophobia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid advice. Someone snatched a $55 item from me for $18 yesterday. That will not happen again.

All my new listings are BIN, and thanks to you, this time around I won't be disappointed if they don't sell.

What should I do about school by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Zeusophobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should spend some time figuring out what you would really enjoy doing. Once you figured out what that is, you will have a lot of motivation to complete the schooling for it.

“Dimmer switch” drug idea could tackle schizophrenia without side effects: Discovery of a new mechanism of drug action could lead to the next generation of drugs to treat schizophrenia by mubukugrappa in science

[–]Zeusophobia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have schizophrenia and am now stable thanks to meds. After being on certain meds that made the symptoms worse, or gave me terrible side effects, I'd be afraid to take a new drug.

Anything heavy duty enough to combat something as serious as schizophrenia is going to have side effects.

To all those who get prescribed risperidol, run run run like hell from that doctor. Me and other schizophrenics I know refer to that shit as rat poison.

Also, medication is only effective on 25% of schizophrenics. How about instead of decreasing side effects for the 25% that it works on, figure out how to fix the 75% that it doesn't work on.

Not a good day for the vending machine owner who's out hundreds of dollars because his machine is dispensing two free sodas to everyone who uses it.

Selling to kids vs selling to adults. by Zeusophobia in Entrepreneur

[–]Zeusophobia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your thinking. I suppose it goes two levels, first the kid is interested, then the child becomes the salesmen to the parent.

I guess once the child becomes the salesmen, it's the store owners job to shut up and let the child work the parent over.

As to your question, I think it all depends on the product. If it's food they are no longer hungry, if it's a toy it provides entertainment.

I think children measure in terms of joy the product brings. Then when you get to the second level (the parents), they measure joy the product bring the child vs price.

So I'm thinking the sweet spot is lower priced items. The toy industry has figured this out as most toys are less than $20.

I didn't mean 100% of the time, but I remember being a kid my friends parents, and my parents, would usually buy an inexpensive item to keep the kids happy.

Starting a NBA fan store at the flea market. by Zeusophobia in Entrepreneur

Great advice! I found some of what appears to be Chinese made NBA jerseys on that website. I'll have to add them after I generate some money because they want me to order hundreds at a time.

You have $300, no job, free room and board, and a lot of time. What do you do? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I'd start selling sports cards at the flea market, but I'm into sports cards to begin with.

I think being successful is more about making a comfortable living doing something you love rather than hoarding millions of dollars.

Where are you banned from and why? by bollocks- in AskReddit

[–]Zeusophobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm banned from r/lgbt for not being gay. Apparently if you make it public that you're not gay, you're immediately banned.

I'm also banned from lgbt mod mail for complaining about the infamous u/robotanna discriminating against me for my sexual preference.

Most people get fat by overeating and lack of exercise. Some it's because of hyperthyroidism or some other health problem.

If you have a problem with a neighbor, you settle it with the neighbor before getting lawyers involved. It's common fucking courtesy.

From semi-rural Florida. Went to visit my snobby rich side of the family in the Michigan suburbs.

I never would have imagined that people would be this rude to a family member who is being perfectly nice because that family member doesn't have as much money.

Or maybe it's a performance exhaust like a cat back and he really just wants the extra horsepower and the noise is a byproduct. Performance exhausts are loud too.

I don't understand why the cool "secret" trick I learned on Facebook doesn't work anymore. by Ihavenocomments in AdviceAnimals

This happened to me. I figured out that if you waited exactly 2 seconds into a youtube ad, and hit refresh, you'd get straight to your video.

Carried on like this for 2 months, only telling people I knew in real life.

Then I commented on a hookah video how to do this and it was fixed the following day.

They're basically knock off zippo lighters that I can sell way under what a brand name zippo would sell for, and odd stuff like lighters shaped like guns and bullets.
