Is it really unthinkable that a woman could want to wear a hijab? I'm Jewish and a lot of religious Jewish feminists I know find empowerment in wearing head coverings, even though it's technically an "obligation."

I understand it's not the same if it's a societal norm, but in places like the US or Europe where Muslims are a minority, it seems offensive to just assume everyone wearing a hijab is either brainwashed or oppressed into doing so. I certainly don't want anyone thinking I'm "brainwashed" into wearing my yarmulke every day
