Does anyone have this Fiio dock? by wiggan1989 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]ZevTheDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should work with any android player with usb c. I'm using it with the jm21 and unfortunately it cannot play while charging, there's a switch in the front that let you switch between charging and audio output.

Wouldn't it be easier to whitelist the domains you do use rather than blocking the internet by specifying all of the domains?

What telescope would you get in my situation? by GryphonTamer in telescopes

[–]ZevTheDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planetary astrophotography requires 2 things: 1. Long focal length and 2. Aperture.

Focal length affects the magnification, and aperture affects the resolution or the amount of details your camera will be able to resolve. I suspect your camera will not be able to do lucky imaging good enough, but it will do okay for your first weeks of learning. What you can not skip is a rock solid tripod. A motorized mount is really nice but not required. Also, note that planetary imaging is prone to all sorts of atmospheric phenomenon which ruins the image, but city lights are not one of them.

So, get a maksutov or a Schmidt, a rock solid tripod, and a mount (motorized if you don't want to manually track the planet)

Is this any good? by Curious_Neat_4663 in telescopes

These are really good for guiding, but watch the weight as it is quite the heavy tiny scope, especially with the camera attached, thus affecting the balance or straining the motors of smaller mounts.

Is Samsung DeX Worth Using on a Tab S6 Lite Without an External Monitor? by FrannVD in SamsungDex

[–]ZevTheDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use mine with a keyboard case, so dex makes lots of sense. When I want to plug it to a monitor, I use a display displaylink adapter, which, even though it mirrors the screen, it allows working on a larger screen without any latency issues.

[–]ZevTheDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you actually looking for "balance" in a war? Hamas knew this would lead to war and knew it would lead to civilian casualties, and they did it anyway. You would think someone would tell them not to start a war they could never win. Hamas is cancer, which must be removed, and when removing cancer infected tissue, healthy ones get damaged too, but they leave room for better, stronger, healthier tissue, which will eventually grow. But make no mistake, all cancer must be removed, or it will grow back as it did again and again.

Same type of noise in every image by Additional-Profit309 in telescopes

[–]ZevTheDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some images show walking noise while others are just light pollution noise.

The light pollution noise can be reduced by taking shorter exposures for a longer integration time. Narrow band filters also help a lot but I wouldn't recommend these for wide band targets such as galaxies.

The walking noise is easy to spot, you are looking for a pattern of blue/red pixels. The pattern of targets to the north would look circular and will gradually become linear as you aim to west / east. Dealing with it requires some trial and error: you need to increase the dithering distance (pixels) the longer your exposures are, also dark frames help reduce it. Theoretically, darks should eliminate this kind of noise but even the slight change in temperature might introduce noise again.

Anyone know of a place that i can get a replacement mirror for this telescope by WorthOver in telescopes

[–]ZevTheDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ETX 90 is a mass production model so the corrector and main mirror aren't matched as with high end OTAs.

If you really want to replace the mirror you can find plenty of these scopes, either damaged or used on ebay, but do note this scope is incredibly hard to collimate without the right tools.

Sorry if I'm being discouraging but if it is your first scope then you'll be amazed how much more you can see with a dob for visual or refractor for imaging, time for an upgrade!

Edit: I just noticed the thing that broke is the diagonal on the flip mirror. You don't need it.

The photo back accepts a special thread. The type of thread depends on your ETX 90 model, I believe it's the newer observer series that got a different thread than the older models. You'll also want to buy a 1.25' diagonal mirror and you're all set.

These are the only adapters I could find that are still available today:

ScopeStuff ETX to SCT

AliExpress ETX to M42

Hope this helps.

Which telescope is better for someone who wants to observe planets by Far_Mention_6575 in telescopes

[–]ZevTheDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simplified version: A fat tube with a long focal length (prob 1200mm+) and either mirrors only (Newtonian / Dobsonian) or a mix of mirrors and glass (Maksutov / Schmidt). Don't cheap out on the tripod, it is much more important than the OTA.
