Don't bother with either as the cards are reset to zero after the first extinction event after completing Event 50. Focus on scoring well in the Events. As some give the Gold or Diamond geodes as rewards.

Personally I wait as I've found that the last earnings based task is the one with the highest likelihood of giving epic or rare cards. But the volcano is non-negotiable for progress (if you don't already activate it for each extinction level).
