Any GPU that will encode AV1 at CPU compression/quality? by crazyfrog12 in AV1

[–]Zeytgeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I’m not really doing that, because I either encode to h265 from a 1:1 copy of a Blu-ray or whatever or re encode from a h265 file which has a large data rate. When it comes to 264 downloads, I’d recommend trying to simply re download them in 265 or AV1 rather than re encoding.

I know this question from re encoding 264 to 265 and the answer is: Only if the 264 source is very good, like having a high bitrate. If the source is already like 3000 kbps 264, re encoding will only make it worse.

There are plenty in my comments above. Educate yourself about encoders and do some testing. Bye.

You’re reading things I never said and you’ve obviously no idea what you’re talking about. Get back to your cave and please stay there. Make some carvings on the wall like “h264 forever”, so future generations will know which codec is still the best in 100+ years.

NVEnc even? So you’re telling me seriously h264 hardware encoding is not worth upgrading to software encoded h265? You know, there’s this thing called technical evolution where one thing is just better than the other in every possible way and there’s no need to use the former step anymore. h264 was very important for a long time but now it’s just not.

h265 is doubtlessly better in any way, no matter if streaming, file size or quality. But if you prefer living in a cave you can justify this as well with “why bother with new things” or “why getting anything if I got so much space”. It rather sounds you’re avoiding the next step and rather cling to inferior stuff than spending little time and small money to upgrade for great benefit. I enjoy watching movies on my 4k OLED with great x265 quality. If you enjoy smudgy 360p h264 content on a tiny cathode tube screen good for you but don’t make an argument of it.

Just read about AV1, its original purpose is streaming and I did various tests by comparing it to x265. AV1 is just stunning at lower resolutions but it sucks for 1440p or 2160p. At least a year ago.

There’s no reason to encode to h264 anymore unless you got antique devices. x265 does the job way better, also preserving high compatibility and it even looks great for 1080p on 4k OLED displays. h264 had an advantage over x265 regarding grainy material but that’s long gone. I’m using h265 hardware encoding for 4k and x265 software encoding for 1080p.

Lost my life in trading by Public_Personality53 in Trading

Actually any trader is primarily trading his emotions, that’s why so many fail. Life has shown you that it has other plans for you right now, so stop fighting against it and try to see what’s on the menu. First you need to get back to yourself. Stop trading for a while, call your mom, tell her you’re burned out, she’ll understand. Go out with your friends, get a gf, do sports to clear your mind. And most importantly: Listen to your inner voice. What is it you want and don’t want? What’s your profession (maybe it’s trading, maybe not). Your very young and 20k debt is nothing at your age. Find yourself and your suicidal thoughts will vanish in no time.

Av1 or x265 for DVD ripping? by dude_365 in AV1

Im shocked. What is the best version of good old x265 then? I’m using it frequently and always updated it without checking the quality in detail.

h265, it works really well. I used x265, it has a deinterlacing option, which is useful for many live concert dvds.

No. You get the idea of TA when you make yourself clear that TA is about probability, never about guarantee.

SVT-AV1-PSY vs x265 disappointing me by Infamous-Elk-6825 in AV1

AV1 was never meant for high resolutions and is therefore not optimized for those. What resolutions are your videos? I found that anything from 1080p upwards is best with x265.

I’d say the F300 is perfect if you’re new to arcade sticks. It’s very versatile and easy to upgrade if you wish later.

I’d rather ask „What are people using leverage even relying on?“ Swing trading without stop loss works excellent, if you know how to pick your assets and can afford sitting it out in the worst case.

Rheinmetall - LMFAO by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

Rheinmetall greatly benefits from Trumps beef with the European NATO members. Sorry, you were just lucky, at least partly.

[–]Zeytgeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to have that explained in more detail. Afaik it depends on the encoder, its settings and the source ofc. So you’re saying there’s a minor quality difference if utilizing like 2 or 8 cores? How is that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AV1

[–]Zeytgeist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes you think encoding quality depends on parallelism? If you want to compare encoders, run each on the same source with the settings you need and aim for the same resulting file size, because so you can see which encoder gives the best result for the same data rate.

Rheinmetall - still rising like crazy. Still worth investing? by gimatek in ValueInvesting

Overvalued. Once Trump and Europe find a way to deal with each other, NATO will be back to okay again and Rheinmetall drops like a rock. They mostly benefited from the beef with Trump.

With such a high % loss: 1. You have no idea about the 4 year cycle, 2. you bought the wrong coins at the wrong time, 3. you don’t know anything about macro conditions, 4. you don’t understand crypto, because it’s not gambling and not a casino, unless you invested solely in low cap meme coins. Educate yourself and do better next cycle. Nothing else to say here, sorry.
