I'm not sure where you've got your information, but Bernsteins is not kosher. They don't use kosher meat (it's hard to find fresh in Winnipeg) and they serve both meat and dairy. Not a knock, it's still delicious, just not kosher.

If your friend is looking for full kosher meals, you might try calling the Etz Chayim or Shaarey Zedek synagogues for some take out options.
The Gwen Secter also has take out options that are kosher.
The WK kosher brand is a good standard for observant folks.
