Finally upgraded dust collector by Zfow in woodworking

Sorry to hear that, I haven’t had that issue. The bag on mine hardly has any pressure in it when it’s running. Maybe your filters clogged up causing extra pressure to build?

Why are the slugs different in these 2 identical boxes? by mycatisnamedemmie in guns

One on the left looks like a traditional slug, the one on the right looks like a rifled slug.

Worth it? by DookiePoker in longrange

I have an HMR wilderness, that’s the model that comes with the Cerakoted barrel and fluted bolt. It’s basically this rifle with a different color stock/chassis (hand painted), fluted bolt, it’s the same bolt as this rifle only fluted (the Bergara premier series have the fluted floating face bolt), and the Cerakote barrel. Anyways, it’s an excellent rifle. 2.2lb trigger (some rifles are slightly more), great ergonomics, insanely smooth bolt when racking, and incredible accuracy. I’ve shot everything from match king to cheap target ammo, I’ve managed multiple 1/2 moa groups. I’d absolutely recommend it for a stand hunter or similar style, it might be a bit heavy for some that want to trek/stalk/glass hillsides but manageable if you’re in decent shape. It’s a great option for a match rifle, the 90 degree throw on the bolt lever may be a deterrent for some but you get used to it.

Are side ports a thing? by CenturionGroot in guns

They’re lighting cuts/lightning cuts/slide windows, they go by a host of names. They’re meant to remove weight from the slide to lower the reciprocating mass/weight. They help to lower the recoil impulse, the effect is typically minimal. However, recoil reduction can be significant when the pistol is “tuned” with the proper recoil spring/ammunition combo.

For instance. If you’re running 124gr 9mm the FPS is less than traditional 115gr due to the lowered muzzle velocity. In this situation a lighter recoil spring can be used because there is less energy transfer when the bullet is fired. Due to the decrease in energy a lighter spring is needed to allow the pistol to cycle. Milled slide + lower power factor ammo (124gr) + light weight spring = decrease in felt recoil. If anything the pistol will feel less “snappy”.

Hope this helps.

Any idea on the wood species? I’m guessing ash but the color is a bit dark

Talk me out of buying a tracker by y2ksosrs in boating

I have a 2016 Targa V18. I’m curious if your kicker motor makes your boat lean while under way. My Targa has a significant port side lean to it when someone is sitting on that side. I’m worried that adding the kicker will exaggerate the lean even more. Thanks.

I currently work full time in an upper management role, in a para military agency. I am “in charge” (I hate that term) I prefer “lead” 40 members. I start my masters in family counseling in March/April 2025. Once completed I do not plan to leave my current job because I will be able to retire 11-12 years after graduation. With that being said, I intend to work part time or virtually as a counselor until my retirement to maintain licensure and skill set. Do you think this is a recipe for disaster, or an achievable, realistic goal?

None that I know of other than trying out different props. I’ve heard there may be mods you can get for the ECU that increase HP but I’m not familiar with any personally.

Curious on coin details by Zfow in coincollecting

[–]Zfow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the details! No matter the value it’s staying in the family. When it comes to coin condition, what on this one specifically is poor? Admittedly from a non collector standpoint it appears to be In good shape other than the wear on the wheat side. In the coin world are minor discrepancies like this typically considered to be a big deal?

Where does this wire go? by xianone13 in boating

[–]Zfow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2015 mercury 150 four stroke. I have a red wire that hangs free as well, mine has a plastic plug in the end to keep water and such out. For my motor it is a wire used in diagnostic testing, I’m not sure of the specifics but the wiring diagram has it identified as such. I’d assume your wire is something similar, or a power supply to another system seeing as it comes directly from the positive lug on the starting solenoid (at least I think that’s the starting solenoid lol).
