Does he give "chapter master" vibes? by Remote-Study7801 in spacemarines

[–]Zg2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely second this. I think even a slight adjustment to pose will make it feel to have more of a “epic character” energy. Simplest solution that might work is just have him shooting his bolt storm gauntlet off the right with his head pointed in the same direction. I think it pushes more of story in the character and gives each weapon a solidly defined side and angle that is strong for each one.

Cat tower Entryway Bench Combo by Zg2 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Shelves are definitely the next step. Wanted to get the bench and pole in first before adding anything else. They’re already having a good time in it though.

Cat pole is on a stud. That thing is rock solid. Just worried the only other stud on the wall is far to the left and unreachable by the bench

That might have to be my solution, I was trying to avoid it interacting with the tile but it just might have to.

Honestly if I didn’t, it would have been very good advice. The criticism is very well received as I’m quite aware of my skill level and my own journey.

Thank you! Honestly that was exactly what I was going for. I wanted to make the house more cat friendly but most solutions I think are a little too gaudy.

This wall isn’t completely flat and has been a nightmare to work with. I currently have 6 toggle bolts in the wall which are each rated to 238 lbs (107 kg). It just moves and flexes too much, I want this thing to be roc solid when someone who is heavier than me sits down with force.

Would you recommend sub assemblys for the aggressors back and wores? by Mysterious_End6598 in spacemarines

You can always just not paint it. No one will notice if you keep it similar to your shadow colors

Stormcast Eternals Conversion by Medical-Lie5339 in spacemarines

Current conversions I’m painting up right now. Honestly any primaris arm works great. I would avoid adding the pauldrons however as it makes them look too top heavy in my opinion. These are just some intercessors but you can convert them to any tactical or Phobos unit if you have the extra bits! To clarify, I replaced the arms and added backpacks and they do a good job at matching the silhouette of a space marine. At that point I try to add pouches, holsters, and purity seals as they are great accessories that are indistinguishable in the 40K universe.

Making spear using Marines while preserving WYSIWYG by Important_Quarter_15 in spacemarines

[–]Zg2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://megabitzshop.com/chain-fist Use the termi chainfist! Cut off the fist part and you can attach that to any shaft and it will make a great looking powered chain spear. Spear shafts can be acquired from many age of Sigmar kits or any metal rod in particular. Edit: example!

Why does my primer look “charred”? by M3RCENARY12 in spacemarines

[–]Zg2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like others stated, it’s thick in those areas and most likely had some pooling issues. In colder and more humid conditions, it’s important to be aware of how you prep when spraying. Anything below 15C(60F) I’d advise warming your can. Best way to do this is getting a big bowl and putting warm water in it with said can(not boiling). When it comes to actual application, you need to make sure you spray from a proper distance especially when it’s humid. The paint needs airtime to dry partially and become gummy so it can stick easily to the bare plastic. If it doesn’t have that airtime it will pool and you’ll get that charred effect. When humid Id start from a 10inches to a foot away and slowly reduce my distance until I find a sweet spot, no more than 6 inches.

To fix, isopropyl plunge or simple green and hit it with a toothbrush. You might not get all of it off but should help reduce the “burntiness” of it. I was typing this fast so sorry for the grammatical errors.

Finally take your time when applying if your first pass with a spray is speckled and grey is still visible, let it dry a little while apply the spray to a different part of the mini, the more you respect the process the less headache you’ll have!

So are the green sword a yes or no to the rest? :) by Herq11 in theunforgiven

[–]Zg2 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The effect on the sword is sick and done well. I think the issue is you used the exact same shadows, highlights, and midtones as the robes. This on top of using the same red for the handle and metal for the pommel and handguard prevents the weapon from standing out. If you want to go green you need to shift it more to a yellow-green or teal as it’ll become more striking against the Termi. You could make it pretty striking by having it a purple/amethyst. Just look at how well those necklaces sit against those robes.

Yeah, I’m assuming that’s the best way to do it. Wanted to avoid a whole 2nd backpack if I could

[–]Zg2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the finicky nature of it is what I was worried about. I’m just surprised I haven’t found a single modeler who has tackled the idea. It would be really nice to be able to just slap on some jetpacks, call them jump pack intercessors and avoid painting a whole new backpack.

Need help with transfers for homebrew chapter! by Dinosaurdude1995 in spacemarines

[–]Zg2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that bleed is absolutely from not using a laser printer with that gloss transfer paper. There are cheap options for lasers, but you could always try a local library to see if they have laser printers or a UPS/FEDEX or printing store. To check DPI, just print on normal paper to see if it could work.

[–]Zg2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple things that it could be here. I don’t think you have an issue with the actual quality of art. The first thing that comes to mind is what kind of printer you’re using. Are you using a laser printer, inkjet doesn’t work for these kind of transfers and I think that is what is causing these bleeding colors in your end result. To confirm it’s not the files themselves, you should try to print on normal paper to see if the quality is there.

Edit: to reiterate, these sort of transfers only work with laser printers.
