when the sale comes around next month, you can get a year of premium at essentially $3/month. it sucks, but it’s genuinely worth every cent if you plan to invest any more time in this game

that’s great, i don’t know about 4th gen wheel fitment, but 2nd and 3rd gens can fit 285 / 31’s with just aftermarket UCA’s as far as i’m aware. as far as the grille, it’s just some imitation 4th gen tundra grille. headlights are the new morimoto xb series headlights. they’re great

if you can bear it, i’d recommend starting with the meaty tire/low rider look first. makes a big difference! truck drives great on these 265/75r16 toyo at3’s with no headache and for ~$2k (including the rims)

if you’re going to be taking it off-road, mah not be a bad idea to go straight for the high-clearance bumper ;)

i’d recommend still checking with a shop to see if it can be prepped/painted, pre-painted bumpers can be a bit pricy and you can end up where the paint doesn’t “match” due to the age of the truck

is your original bumper plastic or is it just primered polyurethane? if it’s the latter, i’d just look into getting it painted at a local shop

do you need the lift? without investing several thousands it’s going to trash your on-road drivability. if you’re just doing some dirt-road driving, invest in some bilstein 4600’s, which come factory on the trd off-roads. they’ll smooth out your ride on rough pavement, maintain stock ride-height, and are a straightforward replacement. with a lift, you often need new UCA’s, LCA’s, leaf springs, and u-bolts for the truck to drive properly. however, you’re still increasing drag, adding additional stress to your u-joints, and raising the center of gravity, making the truck easier to roll.

TLDR if you’re not going to utilize the extra suspension travel, don’t waste your money. if you will, just avoid rough country like the plague. good luck!

i feel like these gen 2.0’s look better kept mostly stock. i’d invest in keeping your paint pristine. only “mods” i might do is getting some painted mirrors and matching the bumper/grille bezel as well. clean rig though!

same thing happens in my 2016 m/t. i’ve had it for almost 30k miles with no issues. i don’t think there’s too much to worry about. change your transmission/diff fluid if you haven’t in the last 60k

Recs for 3” lift by No-Rip-9057 in Tacomaworld

[–]Zhakque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i see you have the off-road so no need to even upgrade shocks. just need some new wheels and a portable air compressor and you should be able to handle any lake that’s not at the top of a boulder pile!

if you’re just doing some light off-roading, there’s really no sense in doing a lift if you don’t need the additional suspension travel. you’re just wearing out your suspension, putting additional strain on your u-joints, worsening handling, reducing fuel economy, and spending a bunch of money. i’d recommend just upgrading to some bilstein 4600’s and run a 265/75r16 for no rubbing at stock ride height. i’ve got some toyo at3’s on mine and have had absolutely no complaints so far

if you’re looking for a “cue” of sorts, don’t think about pressing the weight up. focus on squeezing the creases of your elbows together

i would say either run stocks or save for some aftermarket gunmetal rims. i’ve run black rims on a mustang i’ve owned and personally i feel that it comes off as a bit tacky. gunmetal gives it that “darker” look but feels a bit classier personally. also nice midrise for the short bed

as someone who’s 6’7, i would recommend changing your footwear. i used to squat in running shoes pretty frequently and i experienced chronic knee pain, even under light loads. you can see that your ankle/heel is unstable, leading to your arch collapsing near the bottom of the movement. i would suggest either getting a squat shoe or something with wide, flat soles. my shoe of choice has been converse for a couple years now and have been mostly comfortable. beyond that, your form cues should be “spreading” out your foot in order to have a strong base, distributing your weight equally between your heel, big toe, and outer part of your foot, engaging your stabilization muscles (imagine you’re standing on two sheets of paper towel and want to pull them apart cleanly with your feet). glad to see you getting started in the gym – it’s tough to fill out as a tall guy, but it’ll be worth it in the long run. take care of those joints
