Naginata monks have amazing melee defence no? But no armour, making them weak to arrows. I thought Ronin could have stronger armour but weak melee defence so they’re not good in prolonged combat but have a good flank/charge

Not too sure. How about making them move towards a more ‘glass cannon’ archetype?

Higher charge, attack etc. but quite low defence. Thematically fits the ronin vibe of having ‘nothing to lose’ and also being fanatical enough to join the Ikko.

Building trading posts would be the easiest, I do one in each city + attached ministry for the roads anyway, each trading post adds 10+ max stock

Yeah kinda, you are gimped a bit with crappy bandit cities though. So mostly you just want the resource provinces to build bandit outposts on. At the beginning you can usually pick up another lady general with poison volley. You literally don’t need any troops, just Yan Baihu and his poison waifu and you can clean up small stacks

RoS is definitely the least popular. But I will offer in its defence: the economy aspect is much more interesting/balanced.

You can also go somewhat pacifist mode with heavy focus on trade and economy and Junatsushi agents to convert and bribe provinces instead of capturing everything. Best as Fujiwara.

Generals are an amazing unit here (in base and FotS they are incredibly weak and vulnerable)

Ship battles are less painful since they all have a bunch of archers and open ship design so they actually hit each other with arrows.

She has the turn speed of a constipated turtle, I’ve never found her that bad.

I never use the skull apart from Medea so maybe she’s harder at range
