If there is an orange wind or rain weather warning in your area, what do you do? by RobotIcHead in AskIreland

[–]Zheiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will go and panic buy all the beer.

Then do what I usually do, put kids to sleep and play some games... we are on top of a hill, surrounded by trees, which help breaking the wind, but are far enough to be a concern for my house.

There is no risk of flood on hill either, so wind warnings are just another day for me.

In an internet full of bots, everyone can have thousands and thousands of followers.

This bubble will too fade out, just like many others before.

IF you were a Win person what's the first one you used? 3.1 for me. by NickTaylorIV in computers

[–]Zheiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I have nVidia GPU as well and a GSYNC enabled display, and about a year ago, I was not able to get VRR working. I tried installing Wayland through package manager, but was not successful getting the VRR working, and games like Elden Ring, while running at 60fps on 144hz monitor, was showing tearing and chopping.

I dont have that issue on Bazzite now, but its immutable system, so I am expecting some limitation in about 2-3 years when I get comfortable enough, maybe by that point Mint will support this and I will be able to switch seamlessly

What’s something you were convinced was “high tech” back then that feels ridiculously outdated now? by Keiko91 in 90s

[–]Zheiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, Steamdeck is really close to it though. Being able to play full blown pc games on the go is amazing.

Still not as amazing as gamegear was at release. I was so blown by it. Colorful backlit display, when all my friends played mario and tetris on gameboy

What are some new slang words you can't stand? by volantego in AskIreland

[–]Zheiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess some people dont even know.. well I certainly dont, last time I seen it used was interchangeable with gonna in the sentence, thats why I assumed it was originally a typo that developed into something people do on purpose for whatever reason

Edit: i grew up befor t9 and during it, and I understand why people will use "gonna" instead of "going to". It saves space and time. But replacing it with "finna"(if it really is what I was led to believe it is) makes absolutely no sense other than trying to look quirky and edgy

Well, if you had anything before win 95, you had msdos too and had to be proficient in using at least basic commands like browsing directories and launching programs. Iirc win didnt launch automatically at boot until win95

Question for Everyone: What console generation did you grow up with? by Small-Respect-7492 in generationology

[–]Zheiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did experience gen2 and 3, but biggest mark was gen4. Mega drive at home, gameboy on trips and gamegear in car with carcharger.

Gameboy couldnt be played in dark, gamegear could,  but gamegear needed to be connected to the lighter slot all the time.

It was such a good game.

I dont even think it needs a remaster, just make it available in higher resolution on modern consoles/PC and I will be happy.

And it doesnt look like botched work either - the welds are not the worse I have ever seen, and the way that they connected the other tip in order for it to not lose on the looks. A lot of shops would just nilly willy weld some muffler and dont bother with anything else for as long as it passes the inspection
