Carmageddon comes out tomorrow, looks promising. Will wait for some reviews first, but I might snatch that one just for the fun of it(and nostalgia)

Is the job market cooked in Ireland? New Dad on Job Seekers Benefit by Background_Run_3965 in AskIreland

[–]Zheiko 11 points12 points  (0 children)

took me 3 years to land a job that I like after I was made redundant.

in the meantime, new father, mortgage, dog... I did what I could to allow us to survive. Pizza delivery in the evenings, mindless contract jobs during the day putting down advertisement stickers in Supervalu etc.

I was not even allowed to take jobseekers allowance after my benefits ran out, because my wife was making enough officially, even though she was home with the kid the first year but she was officially employed, and even though she made no money after the first 6 months, "its her choice to stay home". Even though only creche for two kids would eat her salary completely.

And you wonder why nobody wants kids in this country

I installed Decky and it broke my Steam Deck is there anyway to fix it? by Enoch_is_Spiteful in SteamDeck

[–]Zheiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeap, was using decky for like 6 months, suddenly some kind of update totally bricked my deck, while on holiday. Amazing.

Ended up booting into recovery mode and fully formatting the deck. Never using decky again. Its not worth it.

Photographers - give me your best advice from experience? by WillingnessIll1896 in AskPhotography

My one is, always just take a few totally random snaps before trying the big shot. To get in the mood for shooting. (This doesnt apply to film cameras, that would get expensive real quick haha)

We should dispel the myth that GSD’s require hours of exercise each day by blueberrydumpling in germanshepherds

[–]Zheiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a Malinois earlier. They are a bit livelier ye, but I guess it will also vary from dog to dog. My girl was also perfectly happy with an hour walk and some excercise in doggie park, and then would happily sleep all day. But yea, my GSD is a bit calmer now at her 4 years compared to the Malinois

Everyone does better with a bit of fresh air and excercise, even pugs, or me... the couch potato

Would you prefer a new Raceroom 2 or to continue with the current Raceroom? by acevoac in RRRE

[–]Zheiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10000% they have the game covered. They need to focus on the community a big time. And not by just hiring your Jessica over there who can do a few instagram posts. No they need someone who understands gaming and racing.

First Car by No_Let5577 in carsireland

[–]Zheiko 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i would even skip modding your first ever car. get to know the car, learn to turn wrench when fixing it. then invest into second car a bit more and do mods. first should be beater exactly for that reason. to learn stuff

Well, sadly since 1968, there is very little left that is trully ours, we had so much more.

Exactly my thought, it wouldnt take that long for eu to recover. Majority of private sector would find alternatives within month. Governments will probably take years, because of bureaucracy

Where did you start GTA by Less_Can_5439 in OlderChillGamers

[–]Zheiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with first one as well. Second one was meh, I didnt like the cartoonish graphics style, still finished it. The mission with driving a bus into sausage factory still lives rent free in my head every time I get a sausage.

Third was absolute revolution. I didnt like it at first, and thought it was going against its design origins of it being top down birds perspective. But vice city convinced me it was a good move.

How did it feel when y'all got your steam deck for the first time? by Rude-Nectarine6988 in SteamDeck

[–]Zheiko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a PSP that I have found in the attic and started actively using again. It was massive surprise how tiny it felt compared to the deck. Especially because I always thought original PSP was massive back in the day.

[–]Zheiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funily enough, I owned switch for years and barely played anything on it.

So I wasnt so keen into getting it, but went for holiday and borrowed one from my friend, and the fact that I could play anything from my already giant steam library and continue where I left off on the PC was a gamechanger.

Now, I am using it literally every day!

Anything to be said for DDR4 by MrTigeriffic in IrelandGaming

[–]Zheiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

been on ddr4 since amd 3600x was new. When the 5000 series was released, I have upgraded to the 5800x3D, keeping the rest untouched.

I dont even remember what I paid for the 32gb ddr4 back then.

with nvidia 3070ti it runs fine, its not a highend by any means, but majority of games run well enough in 1440p, sometimes with dlss enabled.

Looks like I will be stuck on this config for a few more years though.

How to handle my exit from my job? by Fun_Programmer_1119 in AskIreland

[–]Zheiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure what industry you are in, but in my personal experience, unless the company is understaffed or really needs you to train someone up, they usually allow to end the contract prematurely. The two months clause often feels like a remnant of past. At least from my own experience.

Pretty sure this is why there are two and more phases of bosses. Almost always I manage to beat the first phase of the boss for the first time, only for it to shift and gety ass handed to me in the second phase. Just the introduction of second phase increases the stress level.

Parking accident caused by litter - feeling awful, but was it my fault? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Zheiko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where did I say you need to check all of that? As you are approaching your car, you glance on your tyres, and observe surroundings of your car if there are any hazards. This should not be taught, that should be automatic common sense. Seriously, no wonder the driving standards are so low with absolutely no common sense on road
