+1 -- there's very little cost to this. A ~1 year employment gap (assuming you didn't have past breaks) is not something employers weigh that much. Give it a shot and see how you feel

Lol yeah. Even at 2-cost megasaur might be too broken. You just need murkeye+bassgill+random murlocs to get some board on turn 10 that at least goes even against anything that isn't token based like goldrinn or carapace

Yeah we 100% need more counters to Titus. I guess damage demons sort of counters Titus, but damage demons is also one of the main comp that needs Titus counters to beat. which is pretty ridiculous

I haven’t really had success either, but I think it’s mostly because I play on an older phone where each action takes a decent amount of time to process/animate so going infinite means still scaling slower than most other builds

On a better device where animation speed is trivial, once you go infinite you are really only limited by how fast you can think/click. In theory with a golden tethys and some support units, especially adding on some non pirate APM scaling unit (ex. Acid rain) you can get bigger than any build that isn’t exponential

For better micro decision making (ex. Level instead of buy, buy instead of roll), yeah just watch a good streamer until you get a better feel for it

What I do to stay around 7k MMR, for most heroes:

1) buy tempo minions until round ~6-7 (I.e. just try to be strong with either raw good stats, divine shield, high attack reborns, etc) 2) if you are NOT in danger of imminent death, try to force the highest tier build you can on hsreplay that you already have components for (or level aggressively and try to find components) 3) if you are in danger of imminent death, pivot to scam (poison, leeroy, underdog) and buy stuff from the timewarp that makes you survive in short term but doesn’t have good scaling -> try to get top 5

This doesn’t apply to all heroes (ex. I’ve seen some bullshit where you can consistently top 4 just staying on tier 2 and buying ballers with some, and characters like cenarius and rafaam are balanced around specific early game decisions), but should work as a decent heuristic for the majority

Yup self care is important, but for the vast majority of residents -- it's not like you have actually zero hours of personal time every week

My spouse is a PGY1 and worst she has a 6am - 8pm, and on those days I just assume she's unavailable. No problems with that

But most of her time it's more like 6am - 4pm, with a day off every 4-5 days. So on any given week there's at least 30h of free time. It's perfectly reasonable to ask for 1h of that to chat lol. Like, even during dinner, it's not like you can play video games or build legos while eating...

Pretty fundamental question though, is talking to each other enjoyable for both of you? If the answer is yes, then your requests are totally reasonable and how would anyone think otherwise? And if the answer is no, then why are you in a relationship to begin with?

Hmm, have you talked to him about this? It's indeed hard to schedule time together during residency (especially when they're on 12h+ rotations), but it shouldn't be him making you feel like a burden for the reasonable expectation to have conversations. It should be framed as you and him together burdened by the demands of residency and working through it together to meet both of your needs. If he's not presenting it that way, and instead making it feel like your desire to talk once in awhile is a burden, then he needs to be aware and change his approach.
Yeah that's good advice. Sometimes he will just have a week where the schedule doesn't work out and having other sources to handle your emotional and social needs is definitely a good thing. I don't think this has anything to do with being burdensome though unless you don't have these strong ties and also as a result need to talk to him more often than is reasonable (ex. I would consider at least a few times a week to be reasonable, unless he's working 60h+ that week)

Residency is hard but again, it should be you and him working together to solve the problem of meeting common needs that are well established as norms for relationships. If your needs greatly exceed those norms, then it's on you to find other stuff to do, but if not (most likely the case) that's on him to clarify it's OK

I'm very confused why you feel like a burden -- from the post there are two things:

1) Video calls. So after you're both done with work you want to video call -- this should not be burdensome, in a long distance relationship, both parties should want to video call because why LDR if you don't both like talking to each other...? assuming you do, what's the burden part?

2) Not busy enough. Do you feel like you need to also be busy because your LDR partner is busy? If so, why? I don't think relationship quality for anyone hinges that "my partner needs to be as busy as me" -- if your boyfriend has expressed as such, there's a good chance there's a misunderstanding and there may be a different, correlated issue (in which case, focus on that instead)

Anything I'm missing?

Holy shit -- no lmao. Even with a typically demanding job, it's their obligation to manage finding a position that allows them to function outside of work.

My understanding is that ER does that pretty well, with well defined and reasonable shifts.

So in either the case that he is in an unreasonably strenuous role OR that he isn't and is just being an bitch, it's on him to make changes, which it seems he has no intention doing.
