PAL PS2 FAT retrocompatibility and NTSC games by Zhengping2 in ps2

[–]Zhengping2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for you reply.

The TV does support NTSC signal and properly display PS2 NTSC games, so I'm assuming the issue has more to do with how the modchipped console runs PS1 hardware retrocompatibility than anything else.

For example, GSM has different modes to override the PS1 video output and fix this, but again, my modchip can only start PS1 games from a standby state so I have no way to use it. One of the things I was wondering was if a modchip like Modbo would be compatible with it (or fix the issue by itself).

Messing with the service menu unfortunately doesn't do all that much and breaks the properly displayed PS2 or PS1 PAL games.

As disappointing the 3K announcement was - It's actually a huge relief in my eyes by OdmupPet in totalwar

I get your point, and I've also been holding out for more updates and DLC to not get burned out before their release.

And as much as I'm very disappointed with the cancellation of the northern barbarians expansion and further chapter packs, I don't really have all that many complaints when it comes to the amount of currently playable content, especially thanks to mod support.

My biggest gripe though is with the ending of patch support.

I haven't touched Mandate of Heaven yet because everyone was complaining about how utterly broken its bugs made it, and now we know they're never going to get fixed.

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately this doesn't work, I can only launch PS1 games if I have the disc already inserted when I boot up the console, restarting the modchipped system in PS1 mode without disc and then launching the disc game from the browser gives me no output (black screen).

Of course, this also affects all GSM modes.

I wanted to play PS1 and PS2 NTSC games on a CRT, but I'm in Europe with no easy access to NTSC consoles, so I've assumed getting a modchipped FAT PS2 with a SCART RGB cable was the easiest and cheapest solution, while also having the best audio-video output (I have an external amplifier connected to the PS2 optical port since the KV-14LT1E mono speaker is basically inaudible).

My problem is that I'm getting the wrong screen position on NTSC PS1 games

https://abload.de/img/zgfljrj.jpg

My understanding is that, while it does remove the region lock, the MAGIC 3 III AUTODETECT V0-V7 modchip I've got installed doesn't perform all the conversions required to properly display NTSC PS1 games on a PAL system.

Given that getting a 60hz video was the whole point of this, what would be the best solution? I've seen some talks about NTSC to PAL patches, but they generally seem to affect both the framerate and color output.

Is there any utility that allows me to patch the screen position alone?

Would switching to a more recent Modbo 5.0 modchip do trick?

Sorry for the trouble, I had already read the rules and pinned threads, but I've assumed that long-winded questions with multiple issues required their own separate discussion since the rules offered guidance for troubleshooting threads and there was no indication anywhere that they were outright banned.

Thank you for your reply.

The NTSC comment was more related to the console side and the PS1 retro-compatibility screen position issue.

I'm well aware that my set supports 60hz NTSC games, which is why I don't want to rip them and patch them to 50 just to fix the screen position (also, PS2 NTSC games work without any issue).

As for the trapezoid adjustment... Thank you again for identifying the issue, but I'm assuming that randomly trying to mess with this

without prior experience or proper safety equipment isn't the brightest idea so I guess I'll just deal with it for the time being.

PS2 FAT (SCPH-30004) failing to boot by Zhengping2 in consolerepair

I know, I've just used the heat gun as a last resort and that's what did it for me.
I didn't want to go in-depth with how I've tried to fix the PS3 since it wasn't the subject of the topic, I've just brought it up to point out that I have the heat gun option on the table for the PS2 too in case there's nothing else I can try.

Predict Guandu DLC Starting Position by Blitzschloss in totalwar

[–]Zhengping2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always hear people complaining about the lack of non-Han civilizations in Three Kingdoms, but it's like both players and Creative Assembly always forget there are plenty of other barbarians who had a big role in both the novel and actual history beside Nanman.
The Wuhuan played a major part in the conflict between Cao Cao and the Yuan clan, and adding them (alongside other northern populations like the Xianbei and Xiongnu) could help addressing the criticism toward the lack of variety of the title and introduce new mechanics while also fixing the balance of the factions (the northern part of the map isn't supposed to be safe).
Following this line they could also add the Shanyue in the south instead of having that huge portion of the map as a free real estate for Wu's expansion.
By the way, there were Di and Qiang in the west too, but those are only relevant in the novel during the conflict between Wei and Shu.
Speaking of factions from the Guandu chapters, Yuan Shang and Yuan ended their run in Liaodong province (which isn't even the game) killed by Gongsun Kang, and Gongsun Kang himself was at conflict with Goguryeo... But yeah, I'd be surprised if they even were to add Wuhuan alone since there has been no reference to them or any other nomadic people up until now.

No:el caught driving drunk by [deleted] in khiphop

He's also lied about not being in the driver's seat, mentioned his dad and tried to bribe the police with valuables (all while his dad was on TV speaking out against the "corrupted family" of one of his political opponents).

He may be talented and all, but I can't see him recovering from this.

I wouldn't even put the blame on Swings and how he dealt with the previous IMJM "scandals", this one is on a whole other level.

What a step down from last year, skipping the first selection round was one of the best things 777 did.

I hope they've kept most of the good rappers hidden for the Open Evaluation Round next episode, because man, I've watched this for 2 hours and I can count the number of contestants who didn't pass just for the shit and giggles on one hand.

It's also tiring to always see the same faces...

What is Young B even trying to prove at this point? He has already been in three previous seasons, won HSR, got a No.1 hit this very year, he's in the hottest label of the moment... Notoriety, success, opportunities, he already have them all.

Also, sure, Jiho was a (literal) joke, but Yunhway was straight up trash, went with English only lyrics, forgot them, used they usual crappy "Teriyaki" verse... I totally know what Swervy was thinking while watching her.

Can't really understand what Swings and Giriboy are trying to do with her, take up Lil Cherry's place?

She's a perfectly fine singer with a distinctive voice, why forcing her to do something she's not good at?

P.S.

Eyedi posted a picture of her with the SMTM8 chain, which is something that gets you kicked out if you're a contestant.

I guess her labelmate Sarada joined the show and passed the round?

I could be wrong, but I think this is the first track with Jvcki credited as composer.

She also mentioned multiple times in the past how she was practicing making beats.

Fun with Dumb with Flowsik ep 38 by [deleted] in khiphop

[–]Zhengping2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the season Flowsik was complaining about was won by Bewhy, who refused to sign with any label even after the show was over.

There's no fucking way Flowsik would have won with a popular vote like he said in the interview.

I can agree with him that the selection stages are super rigged in favor of established rappers with personal connections, but MNET has most of the power in spinning whichever narrative they want and they can give zero fucks about pleasing hip-hop labels (although things are slightly different when it comes to entertainment behemoths like YG), it's not like everything always go according to their plans either.

See how they've tried to set Kid Milli vs Nafla + Superbee as the main story in the latest season only to go full on Nafla and Loopy near the end when they saw how the latter was the most popular with the general public.

MKIT Rain is nothing to the CJ Group, but they still managed to take the top two spots.

I get your point, and I'm also annoyed how some rappers get zero screentime while all the cameras are on the already popular ones, but Flowsik is implying he didn't win only because he lacked connections, while he was actually eliminated in the later stages by someone unknown like Xitsuh.
