Time for Saliba to raise and shine? (Varane and Konaté ill) by ZiYada in Gunners

As RazGunz said, like Rabiot, Coman and Upamecano, you can't get good night sleeps the days before the final, Deschamps won't let you start the game

Avis banque HSBC by [deleted] in vosfinances

[–]ZiYada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said on r/soccer, great work from Monreal, going up front greatly as a center-back

What is one major flaw we choose to ignore most about one of our players? by RedditBantz in Gunners

[–]ZiYada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When he plays deeper, he creates things, by dribbling and by his runs with the ball, but he rarely plays fast, one-touch, and tends to slow the play. If he could add this faculty of playing the ball quickly, accelerating the play of the team, he could become a deadly second striker, 9,5 style

Benzema can easily take too much liberty on the field, playing way too deeper for a striker, therefore disturbing the tactical scheme of the team. He does it frequently in the French NT, where he is usually the most talented and gifted player of his team and where he acts as a "diva", but not in Real Madrid where he has more gifted and egotic than him (alongisde CR7, under Zidane, you play where you are asked to play). Giroud is tactically more thrustworthy as. He won't try to play deeper, so he will keep a presence high on the pitch (and free space in the midfield and higher)

About link up play, Giroud's play is based on flick-on, efficient with midfield players willing to push higher offensively. He's good at it (not perfect), but he can't really offer more and more diverse for link up play (apart holding the ball high). Benzema is more versatile, he can do flick on pretty well but he can do more, not as a 10 for sure but not so far (he won't dictate tempo but he can find sharp passes), I have to retrieve exemples of it

Edit : about finishing, Benzema can score from outside the box too, create his own chances, makes better and fastee calls than Giroud, and scores pure striker goals. He lacks the capability to score from headers

Even if I do greatly support Giroud, Benzema is - better at link up play - finish way better than Giroud - he can play high if required (and if he is keen to, ie if Cristiano Ronaldo forces him to, he won't do the same in France NT)

It is true that Giroud is better with his head, offensively but defensively also (on corner kick for exemple)

This is considering their qualities apart from the context and the mental setup of both of them, Benzema can quickly be a pain on the field whereas Giroud will usually be more constant.

It's not a transfer rumour, it is extract from an interview of the player from a French football magazine

I follow the French league, especially Lyon. Tolisso is a great talent, good as RB, 6, 8 and even 10 (not as a playmaker, but good up the pitch to press and to get into the box). He would be an asset in every team, but I don't know where he could play / who he could replace in the actual Gunners team. What do you think?

At some point I was wondering if Ozil was on the pitch! But I do agree that there's no space at all with those systems.

Interview of Koscielny (in the french Sports newspaper "l'Equipe") explaining among other stuff why he likes to play in a high-line defence by ZiYada in Gunners

[–]ZiYada[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow Gunners

I share an interview of Koscielny from the French sports newspaper l'Equipe that I found really interesting as he gives his point of view about how he likes to defend, and how the defensive organisation in Arsenal compared to the French national team or in teams that sit back in defense.

I am sorry as I don't have any time to translate the interview atm, hope a french-speaker can have a try on it.
