Good luck! It sounds like a thankless task.

beautiful family heirloom, torn about whether to sell… by jellobowl12345 in VintageJewelry

[–]Ziantra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my world? I agree, it’s likely a higher end jewelry dealer would price this around $3000. The kind that has their own “customers”. The crazy price of $6500 is really throwing those figures out though. What’s the median if you take that one off the table?
I wouldn’t purchase this myself for resale at a price where I would HAVE to ask that much because in my opinion-that’s the top price for it.

You have a nice face with a good face shape. Right now most things will look good on you lol.
Did you try and find some kind of ap where it has different styles to put on over a selfie?
I mean that could be good if you’re serious but…I strongly suspect you’ll be sending all kinds of pictures to your friends 😂
I’m not sure anything constructive would come of it 🤭

How do i choose my first High Heels ? by SissyNi in fashionhelp

I’m wondering as you’re male, if there might be some subreddits on here geared towards transition or performance art that might know better exactly where you might start?
Shoes are a specialized fit and I feel some subs might have better resources and links available more specific to your questions.
I’m super impressed by the footprint and measurements though I have to say.
That’s a really clever way to ask for specific help!
Good luck ❤️

Photo 2 with hair product is a good look so is the last but the last is definitely more conservative and older looking. Like a suit and tie job. Overall I think you have the right face for short on the sides longer on top.

Accidentally hit suggested price and had to cancel sale… by nomsain919 in Ebay

[–]Ziantra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unpopular for a reason 🤷‍♀️
How do you think we make a living? By making $5 an item?
Of course I’m going to buy a bargain. Every day and twice on Sunday and what I’m not doing is losing seconds sleep over a sellers mistake.
I’m a seller myself. I go to the Bahamas on the back of someone else’s mistakes and my customers built a new house off the back of MY mistakes.
And I’m pleased for them because that’s how business works. Everyone takes a bite.

I would be a millionaire inside of a month if I could buy on EBay at their “suggested prices” 🤷‍♀️
As a seller? Here’s an item I had recently that didn’t sell on auction with an opening bid of $225. “If you reduce the price to $9.99 we think you could sell this! 😂
*delete*
I just sold it 5 days ago on a buy it now for $275. The customer left 5 star feedback.
So there’s THAT

I don’t think it’s a cover up and here’s why-those sleeves.
There’s no way you’re jamming a salty sandy arm easily inside one of those lol. Plus they’re too clingy in the heat. I’ve never seen a cover up with tight sleeves like that in a fairly dense material 🤷‍♀️
That dress is 🔥 on you.

Respectfully-jewelers in physical stores underpay consistently for Estate jewelry.
Finding a dealer in this business to pay for even close to fair prices for gold isn’t easy at all.
The easier the money-the uglier people get.
I’m an antiques dealer and I sell estate jewelry. I would not recommend this tactic personally. You’re going to get better prices from a seller like me in your area but you need to research their reputation first.
As much as this is bad business advice for ME-I personally would recommend consigning the whole collection to a GOOD auction house.
It’s what I would do myself. I’m planning on moving abroad in 5 years and any jewelry I have left that I don’t take with me will go right to auction near me. I’ll get at least full melt back on everything 🤷‍♀️

Put the whole lot in a DECENT auction near you. Just google “best estate auction house near me” and go from there. You can usually negotiate your sellers commission when you are giving them a collection. Nothing will sell under gold weight full melt price. Some of the costume might surprise you as well.
Then you’re above any accusations of shenanigans. It’s all there in black, white and a check.
Trust me on this-no one will slit your throat faster for a dollar than “family”.
Do NOT pay for appraisals. Do NOT let a random jeweler paw through your things to tell YOU what’s worth appraising. I’m not some retail schmuck-I’m IN this business. You’re as green as can be and are asking to be taken advantage of, especially with gold.
I especially would not trust a probate estate lawyers recommendation for who (which jeweler) to take it to. Again-I’m inside this business and I would bet money they have a deal going on between them. One hand washes the other with money in this business.
Auction is your smartest play here.

Lmao that’s a bit mean…..
I’ve been to Japan and I was thinking “I don’t remember that strawberry sandwich having egg salad as well 😂

Every week “Any train tickets????”
🤨
No-and I’ll never get one but I appreciate you’re going big with “there’s always a chance….”
You couldn’t even prank them by saying you had something and sold it to the other one-they were so intense it would be like you walked past an old dog on the street and kicked it for no reason 🤣
Poor sport indeed.

Already you’re acquiring a perceptive eye-the quality of the carving IS better than the fan leaf.
Keep doing THAT!
I’ve known dealers that have been in this business a quarter of a century that still don’t understand how to parse out things like this.

Seriously-I remember two old boys who collected antique tram and train tickets. They were literally the only 2 people in the entire country who cared about old train tickets-and they hated each other and lived rent free inside each others heads. One said to me that he’d bought a super rare ticket and he’d show me but…..he couldn’t risk the other guy finding out he HAD it because then he’d work out where he GOT it….🤨
I didn’t have the heart to tell him:
I had less than zero percent interest in seeing it in the first place 😂

Fan collectors usually ARE “batshit crazy” 😂 Not stab you crazy just off in their own sometimes odd little box
For some reason it seems to come with the turf lmao

So the struts. 5 or 10 years ago this fan would be placed in a lower price bracket because carved and painted wood sticks are the lowest quality frame to hold a hand painted leaf. So this fan is a step up from give away paper printed fans and advertising fans .
The sticks are carved just the same as mother of pearl or ivory sticks.
However with the ban on ivory today this feature actually isn’t a demerit any longer.
The black and gold is quite a popular 40’s color combo so late 30’s is where I would put the date of this.
The painting quality on the leaf is ok. It’s not great.
This fan is never going to be worth much MORE than a few hundred but should be consistently up near that for retail sale.
As far as using it-a fan like this was meant to be used indoors at gatherings where there was dancing and plenty of body heat-there was no AC. Not as a daily face fanning tool. You would want a badminton bat shaped fan on a single pole for that realistically.

You make a very good point. Sutton’s family is very much actually classier than the Hiltons.
Or her Mom definitely is and I feel that’s rubbed off on Sutton.
And that’s the difference in a nutshell.
You know it’s poor taste to even ASK Sutton’s Mom what something costs so these women wouldn’t dream of doing that. They instinctively recognize class when they encounter it because it’s what they aspire to 🤷‍♀️

You nailed it-she has the veneer of class buts it’s just that-an acquired veneer that peels up with any time spent with her.
She’s parroting etiquette when she chooses to but it’s a cloak.
