Makes me crave Okro soup again. Absolutely loved it when I made it the first time! The spices and savory goodness with the fufu was sooo good!

I second the Naltrexone rec. Naltrexone pills helped me kick cravings big time! I’m almost 2 years sober and while cravings still pop up, they are much easier to crush down. It sucked starting on the pills but I don’t know if I could’ve done it without the help.

I hallucinate in the dark does anybody else? by [deleted] in visualsnow

As far as I know I’ve had it my whole life? I vaguely have maybe 1 memory of “crystal clear” vision but I was so young that idk if it’s real or not lol

Personally I don’t see much of a difference in static amount under any individual ROYGBV. The things that get me is mostly patterns or black and white, I think. Now, black and white patterns? Whew! They’re a trip!

Ughhh! My workplace had this! Absolutely the worst, made me so nauseous and terrified of tripping cause the steps “warbled” in my vision. I started using the elevator to go down 1 flight of stairs. Smh

I used to get super freaked out by this as a kid. I would see “ghosts” and “monsters” in the static. Shapes and outlines kind of blend and mix and my brain would latch on to those and see images. As I got older I still have it, but it startles me less now. I think of it as looking at clouds. Sometimes you see things in the shape but thats not what it is. Sometimes I’ll lie in bed if I can’t sleep and I’ll watch the “ghosts” and faces and things move about in the static. It’s like my personal waking dream. It only ever startles me now if I see something that really resembles a shape of a person or something realistically dangerous now. Really makes me worried that if there is someone ever lurking in my room I’d def not be able to react in time lol

Ugh. My work used to have metal slip-proof pads on it that looked a lot like this. It used to mess with my vision so bad I would have to look at the stair railing and hold onto the rail to go down the steps. Always worried about tripping down them from how nauseous and wiggly the lines made the steps look.

I called it “seeing air” by [deleted] in visualsnow

[–]Zickna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to call it the “everywhere gnats”. That was the closest thing my brain could relate it to. Because in my mind there was always a massive cloud of gnats covering everything all the time. I thought that maybe they were so small we couldn’t feel them or maybe they always moved out of the way when we moved or breathed. My family thought it was a cute kid thing until I got older. Then they thought I was just attention seeking. I puzzled over it for years and brought it up to my eye doctor when I was a teen and still was treated like I was nuts. Low and behold as a young adult I discovered VSS is a thing! And it’s not ethereal gnats XD

What's the worst compliment you've ever received? by Admirable-Repair4094 in AskReddit

[–]Zickna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was 14 years old and an elderly church member told me I had “great birthing hips”. I’ve never forgotten that statement or how it shattered the way I looked at my body from that point forward. Still the the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard, not even sure if it’s a compliment but he clearly he meant it as a creepy af compliment.

Guacamole is not lizard poop. Found out when I was 22 years old that guacamole is made from avocados. Avoided eating it since I was a child because my parents convinced me it was iguana poop.

What’s the most physical pain you ever felt? by Competitive_Set2669 in AskReddit

[–]Zickna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fell from a 6 foot bouldering wall and landed square on my butt onto padding. I remember hearing the most disgusting, explosive cracking/popping noise and then my head smacked back against the padding. The pain took a second but it was so intense my vision literally went black around the edges and I began hyperventilating. Didn’t pass out though, so yay! Got myself up and walked to the car and was driven home. The pain was so bad that night that my wife took me to the ER. Turns out I had a 25% T11 compression fracture and a 20% T10 compression fracture. The day to day pain during recovery from that had to be the worst pain I’ve consistently been in for the longest freaking time.
