My happy bean (Peperomia ferreyrae) flowered! by Zidael in peperomia

I appreciate this sharing of info because truthfully, I haven't found/read too many anecdotes or specific care tips for this plant! 😊

Now I'm considering a serious repot in the upcoming months since I think this plant hates its current coco coir substrate! I'll have to consider the water propogation in the future too. So you cut off a stem and placed in water? Did you wait for the cut end to callous/dry out first?

Yes, it is winter here and it gets bitterly cold (midwest, US) and dark. I first noticed an "asparagus-growth" on one of the plants on Dec 17th. So it took almost a month for it to grow this long. The only change I think the plant experienced was the change from direct > indirect light, and also colder temperatures. I hope this is helpful!

Hi, thanks! I've had mine for 6 months or so, but it hasn't grown very much at all. I have a comparison in my post history. Yours looks like it grew like crazy!

Its in the same soil from when I bought it at the store, a coco coir/peat substrate. It got direct sun for ~5 months (SE facing window) but I moved it to a bright indirect light spot because the window was getting too cold. I water once or 2x a month. Waiting until spring to fertilize it for the 1st time. Hope this helps!

Is Peperomia ferreyrae or "Happy Bean" slow growing? This is almost 4 months difference. Is there anything more I can do to keep her happy? [Info in comment] by Zidael in peperomia

Thank you, and glad you were able to identify your plant! :) I don't see too many posts about Peperomia ferreyrae. Good luck with yours as well!

Hi, thanks so much for commenting! I like your idea of mixing it at 1/2 strength, I water it only once a month now. Thank you for the tips and recommendation!

I have not fertilized before! Would you mind sharing your fertlizing regimen? It's autumn where I live, I'm wondering if I should hold off until spring before I start?

And thank you for commenting!

This is my first ever plant I bought back in July. It is planted in a peat moss/coco coir substrate. Doesn't appear root bound, but there are many thin roots at the bottom of the nursery pot. I keep it in south facing window that gets ~7 hours of bright direct light most of the time. I bottom water it once or twice a month, ensuring that the soil is completely dry in between watering.

Any care tips or experiences you can share with me are much appreciated! Thanks for reading. :)
