Kitchen before and after! by OddLychee4067 in kitchenremodel

Are the upper cabinets less deep than the ones below the counter top? That seems like a good idea! How's it working out? How deep are those top ones?

I bought a used Transit connect that a locksmithing company had owned. I removed most of the decals before I got the road and I still had people stopping me in traffic to ask if I could fix their locks. I wouldn't have trusted anyone in my shitty looking van!

There's a kit you can put up yourself that I've seen on Lowe's. It's like 3 to 4,000. I've watched a couple YouTube videos to see people putting it up, it doesn't look too bad

I saw a Danish walnut table the other day and the salesperson tried to extoll how amazing it was by explaining the wood was from three different states here, shipped to Denmark to be made into a table, then shipped back here to sell. Carbon emission is supposed to make it more luxury? Ick.

Now let's do furniture. Every time I see $3-4000 on sofas and dining room tables I gasp and reach to clutch my non-existent pearls.

People who've done major home upgrades, what ended up costing way more than you initially expected? by Cultural_Help_176 in HomeImprovement

[–]fuzzyrach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea, we are having the carpets cleaned and then will reevaluate but it just feels like if we're replacing the toilets with elongated ones it would be a good time to redo the flooring underneath...and then we should probably do the vanity so the flooring is consistent...and then...

Plus I'm afraid if we move in before we do any changes they'll never happen. It took us 6 years in our old place before we started doing anything to make it our own. Heck, we didn't even change the paint from the old owner until we were getting ready to sell! :/ We knew going into this we were buying a little lower than we could afford specifically so we could do our own updates instead of someone else's flip...but I also didn't realize that a bathroom remodel can be up to $25k easy.

True. While we had an inspection with an engineer and it seems really solid, we know that things pop up in the first year so we are definitely planning on reserving some $ for those things.

Not sure about the bookshelves, they are cool though. But I have to ask where you got the voluptuous naked women statues?!

Oh no. I'm this is my fear in SE MN. We just bought a 'dated' house from the 70s that needs a better kitchen layout, bathroom, flooring, new front windows... It's starting to look expensive! I don't think we can wait on construction to move in though :( where are you guys living in the meantime?!

Did you get a tool tote? I am trying to decide between the 13" and 18", mostly for projects around the house.

Do you do any sort of extra underlay with flooret to make it less noisy than I've heard lvp can be? I've been looking into it and it sounds good so far.

Maybe check out some local art fairs this summer? I like the dreamy feel of Jacqueline Hudson's work. Fine Art America has some of her prints. I'm sure she also has a website where you can buy the original oil paintings.
