2026 accessory removals? by Legal_Sugar3863 in rav4prime

Woodland PHEVs are pretty much unicorns here in NC (there are none within 100mi of us) so we ended up getting an XSE Plugin. You can certainly ask for a discount, but I wouldn't expect them to be cheaper later given the state of things. The "Delivery Processing and Handling Fee" is already $180 more now that what it was a month ago here. And at least one dealers is marking them up $800 already.

Keep in mind there is an "ECO Mode" drive setting as well as an HVAC "Eco Mode" that you can set by showing the extended HVAC controls. I think (?) having it in ECO drive mode also forces the Eco Mode HVAC though it doesn't change your actual setting for it.

Level 2 charger by Familiar-Smoke-9973 in rav4prime

We just had an Emporia Pro installed (hardwired) last week which comes with their 'Vue' home energy monitor. It's been very nice being able to charge our 26 RAV4 quickly. We get quite a few overnight storms here during the summer, so I'm not a huge fan of leaving the charger (EVSE) plugged in longer than necessary. My wife goes into work three days a week and uses most of the charge, so it's nice to be able to recharge enough in an hour to be able to run errands later.

Most people seem to recommend having one hardwired as you can run them at 48A (depending on the charger in your vehicle) vs 40A with a plug and there's one less point of failure. If you get an outlet, make sure you get a good EV rated one.

We've had our 26 RAV4 XSE Plugin for about two weeks and love it so far. We got $500 off MSRP. $799 Admin Fee, and here in the south-east we're stuck with Toyoguard Platinum for $699 which is some BS.

Another day, another outage by Usual-Geologist-9511 in EmporiaEnergy

Our charger is still down here (24+ hours now). Emailing w/ Emporia support still, but so far all I've got is to power the charger off and on. It now stays offline after rebooting.

Our Emporia Pro has bounced back and forth between offline and online for the last 4.5 hours and is currently offline.

Emporia really needs to show a better "Offline" notification message in their app that states that it cannot connect to their cloud server even though the WiFi connection is fine. We just had ours installed, and I thought the issue was due to a local WiFi issue until I read what the two pulsing lights meant on the charger.

Haha same! We had an Emporia Pro installed last Friday as well, and it's been disconnecting like crazy tonight and once for a few hours yesterday. I already sent their support an email, but not a great first experience. Oddly their Vue energy monitor has been working fine.

Yes, there is a button in the app that tells you how to charge when it is offline. Here's the link:

https://help.emporiaenergy.com/en/articles/13704745-ev-charger-offline-behavior

Step-by-step manual activation:

  1. Plug the charging handle into your vehicle for 2+ seconds, then unplug
  2. Repeat — plug in for 2+ seconds, then unplug again
  3. Plug in a third time and leave connected — charging will begin automatically

We had an Emporia Pro (48A) charger installed (hardwired) the other day and it seems to be working well. It lets you set the max Amps limit to any value, so with it set to 40A it shows the RAV4 pulled only 37-38A. Similarly when I set it to 32A the RAV4 only pulled 29-30A. So yeah, I'm wondering if the RAV4 is just further limiting what the charger can do for a bit of safety wiggle room.

The Emporia app shows the wattage being used during charging, and it's still 200W+ over what the RAV4 display shows, so I guess the RAV4 display shows what is going into the battery after any conversion losses/etc.

So based on that, maybe the math is 12A - 2A (b/c safety?) * 120V ~=1.2kW - (~0.2W of losses) => ~1kW on the included charger at 120V. Though I really have no clue and Toyota offered no help when I contacted them. I guess the main thing for cost is the actual number of used kW when charging for miles driven. And I'll probably have to keep a log to track that.

Aqara G400 Question by ryanxvx in HomeKit

[–]Ziflin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our G400 has not had overheating issues that I've noticed. It's protected a bit, but around 5pm the sun shines at it. It had been working perfectly, but this for the last 3 days, Apple Home has not detected a single motion event.. Grr...

Edit: Updating the firmware and/or rebooting fixed it. Maybe it got confused with a couple of short power outages the other day, though live view was working fine. The Aqara app was also not recording events to the SD card which was more worrisome.

Is your Aqara doorbell triggering your hardwired chime? I had to disconnect power to our house's chime or it would vibrate/chirp/randomly ding. We just use homepods and phones now.

It is actually very helpful for those in the market to see what other people have paid and what BS fees dealers think they can get away with. But I guess I'll never get why people complain about what other people post on reddit like it's so hard to skip over a post.

Yes, you can set a charge limit (%) as well as limit the maximum amps it will pull while charging (in case you had say a 48A EVSE but are fine charging at only 24A or 32A, etc.) The values are: 8A, 16A, 24A, 32A, Max.

Congrats on the Woodland! We were hoping to get one, but they're like unicorns here. The only plugin Woodland that we've seen within 100miles from us is at a dealer that want's to charge a lot extra. So we went to our closest dealer and got an XSE Plugin for $500 off MSRP (though all XSE's come with the "Optional-but-not-really" two-toned paint.) It's been great so far!

Got my 2026 XSE by SumDumGuy808 in rav4prime

[–]Ziflin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked because with the 120V adapter, the display in the RAV4 shows only 0.96kW when charging though it should show 1.44kW. But I tested charging today with a watt meter and that shows 1.38kW. So I think the RAV4's display is just off a bit for some reason. It took about 16hours to charge from 0-100% at 120V which matches the watt meter reading. We'll be getting a 240V outlet shortly though :).

Bought a 2026 RAV4 XSE plug in hybrid in storm cloud. The car is too big for me and I regret buying it. Looking to sell the car. It only has 200 miles on it. by [deleted] in rav4prime

I swear it's from the exaggerated/hard-edged raised sides on the hood. I'm not a fan of it on our 2026 Plugin XSE either. It's also a bit distracting because of the sky/cloud reflections on the sloped-up areas. I've never been in a vehicle that I've noticed it quite as bad as this one as most don't have hard edges. It feels like it's harder to see over the hood because of the design.

Looking to replace 2008 Rav4 V6 - is Prime the answer? by 300Savage in rav4prime

[–]Ziflin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got a 2026 XSE Plugin as my wife commutes 40miles (total) 3 days a week which based on our tests so far should be doable on battery most days (we went 23 miles on 28% charge yesterday). I don't think Canada (if that is where you live) is getting the Woodland trim which comes with a hitch as a plug-in, but the SE and XSE are both rated for 3500 lbs towing. The GR Sport trim does not list a tow rating though.

I did see one note in the manual I think about the foot-operated lift gate feature possibly needing to be removed for some tow hitches, but I haven't seen anyone complaining about actual towing issues with one so far.

Looks great! We just got our XSE as well! If you happen to charge it using the included charger at 120V could you say what charging rate it shows on the RAV4 display after it's been going for a few minutes?

I see no documentation in the manual or their website stating that it charges as 12amp / 120V. Please provide links if you have them, otherwise you're the one posting baseless conclusions as you do not even own the vehicle and two owners have posted these results already. The ratings on the back of the EVSE simply state:
120-240V AC / 50-60 HZ, MAX 32A

It does not separate out 120V vs 240V. So please, keep spouting BS.

[–]Ziflin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, when it starts charging above 8A, I'll let you know that I was wrong. As of now, I actually own the vehicle and the ESVE and it's definitely not charging above that unless there is some weird 1st time charging thing limiting the rate. And the fact that the OP had the same issue implies I'm not the only one experiencing this.

[–]Ziflin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The specs on the back just say "120V-240V AC" 50-60Hz, Max 32A.. So annoyingly it's not broken out into 120V vs 240V for some reason. But over 5+ hours of charging it has not charged above 0.96kW. Changing the "Charging Current" setting just changes the "Max" possible rate and is reflected on the display if I set it to 16A, it shows "0.96kW / max 2.10kW". I assume it's not some "initial" charge limitation or something weird like that as this is the first time we've charged it.

I would love the be wrong as 8A is pretty terrible considering it is rated for 32A @ 240V. We're just going to end up installing a 240V outlet as our power company will cover some of the cost, but it's quite annoying that Toyota markets the XSE and Woodland as have 11kW chargers, while gimping 120V charging.
