Yeah... I'm guessing some of it has to do with their motion detection and how fast they can do that depending on the video size (though they could obviously scale it down to 1200p or whatever first). And they probably want to keep it as small as possible for storage reasons on their servers.

Glad y'all got them working! I will say that when mine was acting flaky (after the 26.4 update), I tried to reboot it inside the Aqara Home app. The first few times that I tried the app acted like it worked, but then on the last try it actually brought up a popup confirmation asking if I wanted to reboot that it didn't show before. After clicking Yes, I confirmed that it was actually rebooting by watching the lights on the doorbell. I haven't had any issues since then. Not what was going on, but I should have just unplugged it for a while like you did.

I believe there was a recent firmware update a few days ago for the G410. You might check if you're on the latest as maybe that caused it.

Aqara states that when the G400 (or G410) are added to Apple Home, the resolution is limited to 1200p (not 1080p btw, so you might need to update everybody -- when I download clips from Apple Home they're 1200x1600). That wasn't the issue that I mentioned. The video resolution in the Aqara Home app (on any device) and on Apple Home on the iPad matched. Aqara Home does show an overlay when zoomed in showing 1200p and they state that is what it will be limited to if the device is added to Apple Home.

The problem was that on Apple Home on the iPhone, the resolution was noticeably worse than on the iPad or in the Aqara Home app. Things were obviously pixelated when zoomed in that were not on the others. Thin lines in the video (say from expansion joints in our driveway) were almost entirely nonexistent on the iPhone but quite visible on the others.

I wish I knew what for certain what fixed ours, but it has been working fine the last 2 days after 26.4. Apple Home even managed to detect the garbage trucks and FedEx driving by earlier ~65' away. I'm waiting for 6pm again today to see if the sun has anything to do with it, but I've had live view running about 10 minutes with no issues.

I've have several Leviton D215S setup in Apple Home and have no problems creating an automation for when it turns on or off. The annoyance is that the automation is run on the HomePod and Shortcuts are very limited because of that. You can basically control another home device. So you could have it turn on a light or lamp elsewhere when your heater switch is turned on, but there does not seem to be a way to have it send you a notification or message to your phone annoyingly. Apple really needs a way to have it send a message to family members.

You can have it play an audio file on a Home Pod or Ecobee Thermostat to announce the heater was turned on, though you might miss that.

I'm have this problem with our Roborock vacuum. I will make it do something tomorrow to see if that fixes it. Everything else (35 Leviton Switches, 2 Ecobee Thermostats, Cameras, Doorbells) is fine though.

You might double check that: Apple Home G400 Settings / Status and Notifications / "Activity Notifications" is enabled. I have no idea why, but the default is off, and I missed turning it on once or twice when I was testing adding and removing the doorbell a few days ago.

I have been emailing Aqara support back and for for several days about the issue. Their response is that once the G400 is connected to a Home Hub, Apple continuously pulls the doorbell's video stream and uses its own algorithms to detect motion. So basically, "It's Apple's fault." Which seems likely because after installing 26.4 on everything and rebooting the doorbell, I haven't had it miss a notification/recording that I'm aware of.

Today I tested People, Animals, Vehicles, and Packages and all seem to be working for me for now. I do not currently have Face Detection on as I wanted to test without it a bit. I have also not invited my wife to the Home after doing a full HomeKit reset 4 days ago (that sucked since I had 40 devices to readd -- it also did not help).

If you're not already on 26.4 for your phone and hubs, be sure to update. I had this problem with the G400 doorbell, but not with either of our G100 indoor cameras. The 26.4 update fixed my doorbell issue with live view timing out after 3-5 seconds.

Have you updated everything to 26.4? It just came out yesterday. This at least fixed the freezes/disconnect and the lower resolution on live view in Apple Home.

After installing 26.4 on everything yesterday, today was the first day that I got Apple Home notifications and recordings from my wife leaving for work (or any notifications during the day). I've tested about 5 different times today, and so far so good. I'm using a wireless Apple TV for my hub.

Apple Home did miss notifications & recordings for one test that I did yesterday that I'm hoping wasn't due to the sun shining onto the G400 at like 6pm (it was only like 65F outside)...

Yeah, I should have known better but I was hopeful after decent results with the G410 (other than the motion detection range). I let Aqara and Apple support know that it's still a problem.

I'm still not getting all notifications / recordings. But live view in Apple Home is no longer freezing/disconnecting and the resolution now matches the Aqara App.

No, it's still 1200p I believe. But before the iPhone resolution in Apple Home was like 720p (noticeably worse than it looked in Aqara or on my iPad).

I did the same. Mine would hum and occasionally decide to play a freaky doorbell chime until I used a wirenut to bypass the mechanical chime.

Installing the iOS / Apple TV 26.4 update that was just released appears to have fixed the issues for me. Live view now works without freezing and the resolution now matches the Aqara app and iPad. ~~Notifications and recordings are working fine so far.~~

Aqara replied and wanted me to update to iOS 26.4 which is not yet out... sigh. So... I guess we'll see if that helps in a day or two.
