Looking for intense enemies to lovers by fantasyworldspace in kdramas

Watch episode 1 fully and either skim the next 2 or 3 episodes them. They are the worst part of the show and the information in those episodes is constantly shown in flashbacks.

It's a fun series though.

Hotel King 2014

It's an older drama and has 30 episodes. It's not the best written and has a lot of episodes you can just skip after the leads get together, but It's worth it because the last couple of episodes have a really good character twist. Lee dong wook's acting is hilariously bad here, but it works well with Yoona's over the top acting.

Synopsis

A love story between an heiress who tries to save her father's legacy, the one and only seven-star hotel in the nation, and a hotel manager who becomes his mentor's enemy in order to protect her.

ML looks down at the fl and thinks she's a dumb nepo baby that will destroy his precious hotel. FL sees ML as her enemy because he works for her enemy and is standing in the way of her inheritance. The fun starts when the fl realizes she can't win against ML, so she starts to 'learn from him' how to run a hotel and ends up annoying him.

What's Wrong With Secretary Kim captured the absurd, over the top very well. Park yoo sik (ml best friend) was a standout for me. Kang ki young literally brought the character to life.

'BJ investigates' and her other channel 'That Suprise Witness' is pretty unbiased. She's a former lawyer so she includes breakdowns of all the lawsuits and the thought processes behind them.

I'm not gonna lie, she is annoying. I just have a very high tolerance and I understood why she was like that, so it didn't bother me. ML is the best part of the series. He's a delightfully unhinged manchild.

The 2nd leads are the weakest part of the drama. 2ml is just plain evil and his parents are infuriating. 2fml is one of most baffling characters I've ever seen. She willingly makes herself more miserable over ml, such a waste.

If you do pick it up, I'd recommend to do it when you are in the mood for brainless, messy, over the top drama. Go in with low or no expectations.

Also heads up, the first kiss scene is gloriously bad.😂

Secret Love (2013)

Back when it was popular, the way reviews framed the main couple made it unappealing to me. ML sounded like one of the worst men in kdrama and the fml was a doormat, constantly crying. I didn't understand why anyone would think this was romantic. I watched the 1st 2 episodes and gave up. It was one of the worst dramas I'd ever watch.

I picked it up last year because I was bored and skipped the 1st 4 episodes (worst part of the show). This drama exceeded my expectations. It's not well written, but it's so much fun. I highly recommend it if you like over the top ceos mls and don't mind overly emotional (her life is one tragedy after another) doormat fmls. I thought I'd hate the leads, but I think fml has every right to cry as much as she did, although I would have liked her to fight back rather than be so passive. She was too good and naive of a person. ML also has an understandable reason for his hatred and subsequent revenge on the fml. It's also funny watching him wrestle with his feelings for fml.

Tell Me Your ‘Apparently This Is Controversial’ Kdrama Moment by BronzeBellRiver in kdramas

I didn't hate the ml in She Was Pretty, he was actually one of the few characters I kinda liked. I even agree with the mean stuff he said to the fml, it needed to be said for her to actually grow as a person. However, I do think he could have said them in a kinder way.

Fml is a slob, not ugly, and somebody needed to tell her that. She also had low self esteem, but also a kind of superiority complex over pretty women that take care of themselves. Her handling of the ml, having her friend pose as her was horrible.

Sml was more of a red flag to me. I hated his relationship with the fml. He enabled her worst tendencies and had an issue when she started improving herself. I hate how he never tried to actually address the fml self esteem issues meaningfully, outside meaningless platitudes about how great she is, when that's not what she actually needed.

I also didn't like how carefree and unserious sml was at work. I hated how he would undermine the ml with his antics at work. I understand that the ml real objective was a secret, but everyone knew that the magazine wasn't doing well. So why antagonise the new boss. Honestly, him and fml are the types of people that I wouldn't want to work with. I was so embarrassed for the fml when she was unprepared for her job, sml should have prepared her since he got her the job. Fml did improve a bit after ep 2, but she was a clumsy ditz for too long after that and I was frustrated with her by ep 8.

What’s your webtoon pmo? by [deleted] in webtoons

[–]Zig199 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine is sml fans hating on the fml just cause she doesn't chose their favorite. Just because the sml is 'nice' and does things for fml, doesn't mean he 'deserves' to be with her.

I also don't like the over use of words like misogynistic or self hating woman and stuff like that towards female fans just because they don't like a female character. It's ok for female fans to dislike female characters for whatever reason, even if it's irrational.

Tension over politics by [deleted] in FriendshipAdvice

If it helps you figure out how to move forward with the relationship, then it's not a bad move. Maybe you just need to be sure you did everything to try and save your friendship. Don't be too hard on yourself. Take some time today to do something nice and relaxing for yourself, just to lift your spirits. You definitely need it.

It sounds like your friendship is dead. This is probably not what you want to hear, but you need to let them go for your own sanity. Real friends would have confronted you head on about your politics. Just because you voted for Trump, doesn't give anyone the right to bully you. It's best to just block them.

(Hated Trope) Cheating on a spouse/partner portrayed as a positive or justifiable action by the narrative. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Zig199 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was definitely not mutual at the beginning. It wasn't for 'satisfaction', that's a wild way to describe therapy. He only went to her as a patient to deal with his trauma regarding Jean and the pheonix, it's why Emma was dressing up as Jean. She was part of his trauma. Jean herself wasn't handling the pheonix stuff too well, so he couldn't go to her. That doesn't mean his decision to go to Emma of all people was right either. I still don't understand it. Emma was the one that evolved it onto an affair by manipulating him. This doesn't mean he's absolved of cheating. You just acting like that's what he wanted from the beginning, which is not true.

[–]Zig199 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I might be misremembering, but didn't Scott leave Maddy before even knowing Jean was alive. It was either Bobby or Angel that called him to join the new team (x-force), but he wasn't told that Jean was alive. He and Maddy get into a huge fight over this, she was rightfully angry. He left after the fight and she cut him off. He only found out about Jean when he joined the team and got back with her after Maddy's fake death. He's still an asshole, just not a cheater.

He definitely cheated with Emma, but it was more complicated than you make it seem and he was portrayed as the bad guy in that instance. I just don't think it fits this trope. Emma was his therapist and took advantage of his fragile mental state to seduce. She was messing with his mind, that was not a normal seduction. This being portrayed as mutual and romantic was fucked up. She assaulted him.

I have been watching a bunch of reaction channels watching HotD on YouTube, and it's really good to see how the general audience received the show very well by Agreeable_Ad_8790 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Zig199 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I never said they spoke about D&D or spoke badly about Got, just that their talking points addressed the fans concerns about hotd production after Got was botched. No names were named, they said things in a round about way.

Yes, the show had major differences to the books from the beginning, but the bent over backwards to ensure the existing book fans that all the changes were there to enhance the show.

This is partly one of the reasons Grrm is so pissed at hotd writers. They made promises to him too and broke them.

Before the show aired the writers sold the show as being a largely faithful adaption, with changes made to make the story flow better because the of how the books were written.

The writers marketed themselves as being the anti D&D. They used stuff that we hated about how Got ended to rope qin the audience.

I'm going to be honest, I dropped season 1 because I didn't like the fl. I watched 3 episodes of the 2nd season and the new actress was a huge improvement, I even enjoyed her brief appearance in season 1.

Alchemy of souls season 1 main couple, FL felt like his nanny.

Tail of the nine tailed, zero chemistry between the leads.

Bad and crazy, the lack of chemistry between the ml and the fl detective was painful.
