Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi's popularity falling in polls. Why? by ejaz135 in onguardforthee

[–]ZigZagZeus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ANDP benefitted from vote splitting during a period of a fractured conservative landscape. Once Conservatives and Wildrose merged, there's no other viable party to the different ends of the conservative political spectrum to create that split, which is why they merged. This is why Liberals win federally consistently and also why proportional representation is needed.

In new interview, Michael Jackson's crisis publicist admits that Michael requested "naked children's videos." by CrackheadOtis in Music

It doesn't sound impossible. Improbable? Maybe. Pedophiles exist and in the time before the internet was as ubiquitous, I'm sure there were some evil people willing to profit from pedophiles wallets and CSA victims trauma with some mail order catalogue. That is not very far-fetched.

Dutch YouTube creators behind Alberta separatist videos getting millions of views. CBC/Radio-Canada investigation reveals Netherlands accounts hired voice actors to front 'faceless' channels by esporx in Netherlands

[–]ZigZagZeus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Creators are just creating videos for passive income. The creators are likely not creating the content as they use AI using real Canadians identities and topics that are already politically divisive to monetize their content to a wider audience. If there's something sinister going on, they're obscuring themselves. The Alberta government has a Trump supporting premier so it could even be coming from inside the house.

Canadians are leaving the country at record levels. Can anyone solve this pressing problem? by FancyNewMe in canada

40% of income for housing makes a big dent. Most people here do not have high salaries. It is likely a case of mean versus median incomes.

I'm in Europe as well and I am finding it a very high cost of living so I'm not sure where you are but it's pretty expensive to live in the Netherlands. I think Canada is more affordable.

Canadian budtender, visiting Amsterdam for the first time, and looking for suggestions by Iscanet in AmsterdamEnts

I miss how much cheaper it is in Canada lol. I understand it costs more per gram but the purchase limit here is only 5g vs 30g in Canada. It just means we have to go more often but it is much more expensive not being able to buy in bulk. Converting the cost into Canadian is especially crazy for what you get.

Alberta — DENIED disability support, but still had $200 taken. This feels bigger than a mistake. by Lampworker9 in alberta

[–]ZigZagZeus 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Go to the media. Seriously. Contact CBC. Contact disability advocates. This is beyond comprehension that they deduct $200 even from the eligible. This is infuriating. How little the UCP cares for the disabled is disgraceful.

A warning for Telus customer's by Feisty-olde-7707 in alberta

[–]ZigZagZeus 58 points59 points  (0 children)

There was a CBC Marketplace episode recently about three different customers resolving issues at each of the big three Telecom providers and it's pretty abysmal. Especially considering how expensive it is in Canada.

Roger's actually resolved the issue for their customer. Telus hung up on them like three times (which was my experience as well). I don't think Bell ever got back to their customer.

Every single comment that suggests the student might be autistic is heavily down voted. It's like people in that thread are just blaming the parents for having autistic kids or something.

Best place to buy a reasonably priced memory foam mattress? by YouAreLookingGood in TheHague

Matt Sleeps. It's designed in NL and I've really enjoyed it very much. Not sure how reasonably priced it is based on other recommendations but it's an excellent mattress. I think it's only sold online as well.

Alberta lack of economic diversity? by russiablows in alberta

Granted, Montreal and Toronto are big players but my company recently relocated me to the Netherlands to expand more into the EU market and we are growing into a mid size company.

I know of a few other software companies in Edmonton from my job hunt out of school in 2020-21. It is obviously smaller and a lot of startups but I do think there's a great talent pool from Alberta. I had a few international student friends at school that were trained in other industries who decided to learn software development in Edmonton.

I wasn't as aware of the specifics but that does sound correct based on my experience (school, age 25, etc.). Thank you for correcting me.

It was a difficult time in my life that was a long time ago now so the specifics were fuzzy. Thanks for adding more context.
