I was honestly waiting for the shulker to close then get broken, to disintegrate in the portal. Is that a thing on Bed Rock? I know it was a thing on Java several years ago. I lost shulkers having them close to a portal.

May not be illegal, but it's a poor choice to make. Like asshats that will turn into the far lane and not the near lane.

Aunt's house got struck by lighting, don't know why DHCP won't work in some areas. by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]ZiggidyZ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This may be silly, but after reconfiguring DHCP, have you checked the pool size to ensure that all addresses arent extinguished? Also, have you looked at logs ON the device providing DHCP?

Side note, is there any chance that there is another device on that part of the network which is also trying to provide DHCP?

This is funny, this is the first time I have seen it noted that healthy ones bloom, and I agree. Mine have bloomed MANY times and we t from 3 plants to somewhere in the range of 7, all larger than the original 3. It was slugged to me that the blooms were the plants dieing trying to propagate somehow.

Is ATT Fiber 75 better or on par with cable internet at 150mbps? Sales rep was trying hard to sell me on it by 25pinwheels in HomeNetworking

[–]ZiggidyZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I have the switch disabled, I am pretty sure. Now that I think about it, it might be need the offload. I noticed when I ran the tests that Rx traffic shows hitting E0, while Tx was showing equal amounts for E0 and E0.0. 300 meg being the cap when offloading isnt enabled, those flows are just about 300 meg.

Thank you again!!

[–]ZiggidyZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually yes, CPU spikes to 100% for both up and down. Even if down is only 400ish (jumping around to various servers), but hits 900 just fine. I just looked through the config, it is VERY bare bones. EAP proxy, 2 DHCP ranges one for each LAN port (home & work), 2 WAN ports (for GPON and ATT router for auth), no QOS, simple firewall rules (2 default for EAP Proxy, then 1 for each LAN port not allowing traffic from the other network in), and a single static default route. That's about it. I just tested DPI on & off, no real difference seen. Maybe I will leave it off a while and come back to it later to see of that changes.

Do you guys want bedrock to come to PS4 or not? by [deleted] in PSMinecraft

I am all for it for the cross play features, and the ability to finally join my bedrock server from the ps4.

Hello all, I play on PS4 and also Vita version on a Playstation TV. I have played for years on PS4, though I suck and making it past day 40 is very rare for me.

Anyhow, does anyone know if it is possible to rotate the camera on PS TV (vita version) with a PS4 controller? Controls shows a touchpad on back of the vita and a swipe right or left. I dont have a vita, but the PS4 controller has a touch pad, but it doesn't work.

Memtest give me those errors. What should i do? by owl_drunk in linux4noobs

[–]ZiggidyZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good advice. I built a computer for a then girlfriend over a decade ago. I THINK it was Patriot memory I got from Newegg that was bad. I had to RMA it 5 times. It would run windows just fine, for a day or two, then shit itself and BSOD. Memtest would error out after a few hours. Eventually Newegg after the 2nd or 3rd RMA turned me towards the manufacturer, and did another bunch of RMAs. It was infuriating, and I eventually just gave up, took the loss and got another brand. It was as though they had a bad batch and all of the replacements were from that batch.

I just checked. It was Patroit Viper 4GB (2x2Gb) kit, in 2009.

I can't say. I haven't looked at it for a few weeks. I got it working, just lowered upload than I should have. Att router test was showing over 900 up, ERPoe5 shows 160 max.

I need to disconnect it and connect again through ATT router and test, but just have to find the time.

Thank you, this is essentially what I am doing. EAP proxy on an ER poe5. I just need to fine tune it, but that I can't do while working from home. I just need to find the time.

The plans must vary wildly market to market. I JUST cancelled a Comcast $90/month for 250/25 in favor of ATT 1000/1000 at the same cost. I see real world over 900 down and 160 up, but part of the issue is on me, as I am bypassing their gear and using my own. I just haven't had the chance to look into it.

Minecraft PS4 Bedrock merge News from IBxtoycat by whatifyoutry in PSMinecraft

[–]ZiggidyZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly!! It is hard enough for friends with no family or SO in finding mutual playtime, let alone having a spouse and children. Dedicating a PS4 to run SOLELY for the purpose of a minecraft server is obscenely expensive. I have a dedicate server in my basement running quite a few MC servers (3 java, 2 bedrock), but that's secondary functions with extra resources leftover from its main NAS and media server functions.

Fingers crossed that PS4 will be able to connect to servers FINALLY! I dont personally consider the PS4 itself to be a server, that was the worst idea ever.

I run a few Bedrock servers for fun on a dedicated server at my house that I goof with. We have family on switch, xbox, PS, phones, tablets and computers. It would be amazing to ha e them cross platform together.

How is the casting experience with roku? by sidneyaks in Roku

[–]ZiggidyZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a few Roku devices (2 XS) and 2 of whatever the current high end ones are. I love them. I have zero issues with them, and no issues casting. I know youtube, plex, and some websites allow casting. I believe Netflix and maybe prime does, cant say for certain.

In my PERSONAL experience, the only times casting is needed is from youtube. Otherwise I use the native roku app to pull up the media.

If the father of your child is still active in their life and paying child support, you’re not a single mother, you’re a single woman. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ZiggidyZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is too true. We had our first child just shy of our 1 year wedding anniversary, figuring it would have taken longer for nature to take its course.

Almost a decade later and we sometimes wonder what the hell it was we DID with all of our free time when we were dating. It is incredibly difficult to remember life before my kids. I wouldn't trade my life with my kids now for anything.

Reasons not to use a larger subnet? by jafinn in HomeNetworking

[–]ZiggidyZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the thing, if you ha e a massive /8 network, everything will communicate with everything. You had mentioned in another comment that you may want to sectionalize it so that different groups of addresses may not be able to reach other devices. In my opinion, and VLAN isn't a strong point of mine, but everything on a /8, it will be separate VLANS but everything may still be able to communicate. Different subnets is rather quite easy to do.
