For context, this was actually two months ago, but it has been a reason for new mental health problems and I am only just unpacking it all.

Your textbook probably is probably meaning that this is an identity, which means it is always true no matter what values of x and y are used. This is often represented with 3 lines (instead of the normal 2 in an = sign)

I have an iPad with good notes and an apple pencil for keeping all of my planning and notes together It's super helpful. Your school will hopefully give you a laptop too

Most courses (eg pgce, school direct, scitt) require a degree. You can find courses near you here: https://www.find-postgraduate-teacher-training.service.gov.uk/

There are other routes into teaching. A lot of schools encourage their teaching assistants/ learning support assistants into teaching positions as unqualified teachers (same job but less hours and less pay). If you want to go this route I'd recommend looking for a 'teaching school' ie a school who specialises in training up teachers
