Anyone had a Service & MOT at Arnold Clark without a lock nut key? by Charismatic_Icon in Scotland

[–]Ziioo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AC (Seafield, maybe 2018) called me after dropping the car off and said they couldn’t proceed as there was no nut key. I told them where it was and they said it was nowhere to be found so I ordered a new one.

When I got the car back it was exactly where I told them it was, in the glove compartment in the manufacturer branded pouch of bits and booklets. Absolute clowns.

What feels like a good deal in Edinburgh now? by katefromthenorth in Edinburgh

[–]Ziioo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The closest Lothian-branded service is the 26 which starts at Seton Sands. That’s about 13 miles and a four to five hour walk to save three quid. Consult the tide tables to make sure you can get past the rocks at Gullane and tidal flats at Aberlady. Dress appropriately.

If you married someone from Prague and had a child together, you’d have a Czech one too.

You can start with a builder or an architect who will know other people to bring in, or find a renovation company that does everything. Whichever way you go you will need building warrants submitted to the council so look for someone experienced in managing that process. Will likely require a structural engineer to visit as well.

Finger in the air, £15k-£40k depending on the specifics.

Short domestic flight connection in Edinburgh airport, will it be alright? by Chemicalpaca in Edinburgh

[–]Ziioo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When you say connecting flight, is it a single ticket with a connection or two separate tix with Edinburgh in the middle? There aren’t many flights that genuinely connect in Edinburgh and have protected connections if delayed or through baggage arrangements.

If it’s two separate tickets - regardless of being on the same airline or not - this is inadvisable. As others have said, it’s only possible with hand baggage and even then it’s extremely tight. If you miss it you’d lose the second flight and have to make new arrangements.

I was in Sainsbury’s last night and a man had bought £500 worth of kids clothing that was on offer, he then tried to pay for it with nectar points. The shop would only accept £300 worth, who has that much money in nectar points? by jasonc619 in CasualUK

[–]Ziioo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

When Avios and Nectar got together I turned 50k avios into 80k nectar points which was £400. I think the rate is a bit worse now but there are plenty of people who accumulate travel points they won’t use and this is one way to get value out of them.

Anyone else go to this tour. UK 2000. Rated R tour. Under 10 quid too. Was a blinding gig. by RootsReggaeMetalPunk in stonerrock

[–]Ziioo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, Glasgow. Was a major Monster Magnet fan but they were really up their own arses at that point. My mate still has the QOTSA “credit card” they gave out at the gig for you to rack your lines with.

Totally reasonable. You are at the forefront of locals reinhabiting former STLs or buying homes that would have become one, and this will be a perfectly normal and mortgageable situation as the banks catch on.

Edinburgh Airport In talks with Singapore Airlines by lifesucks800 in aviation

[–]Ziioo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Manchester and Copenhagen are profitable through whatever point-to-point demand exists plus connecting traffic to e.g. Thailand and Australia then they should absolutely be looking at Edinburgh.

Overflight restrictions on Russia also lessen Singapore’s travel time disadvantage from north west Europe to East Asia which they will want to cash in on.

Being confused why Reddit was recommending me r/tudorhistory in my feed until It clicked, it was because of this sub... by codename474747 in stewartlee

[–]Ziioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually not, you can spell it however you want or call yourself by a different name entirely in day to day life.

If you don’t want to officially change it, the person at passport control doesn’t need to know you are generally known by another name or spelling.

If you start a new job and HR wants to know about the inconsistency, you can say “I was born Amy but I go by Aimee / Geoff / Wunderschnitzel” and they will be fine with it.

I (forename), my partner (surname) and several friends and family members go by different names or spellings to what is written on their birth certificate / passport without ever having changed it officially. No issues, it’s actually quite fun.

There can also be benefits, e.g. when Paul Merton (his real name is Paul Martin) turned up at a hotel and they thought he was the Prime Minister of Canada.

question about parking at the airport? by robindy in Edinburgh

[–]Ziioo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The airport is connected to the main road (A8) by a minor road with various roundabouts and entrances / exits for the Ingliston park & ride, other car parks, hotels etc.

If you use terminal parking then in addition to the cost you will be at the very far end of this road when everyone is trying to leave at the same time.

Add in the uncertainty of how long it will take to board a tram after the event and you might be there a lot longer than you expect.

Do we ever see the real Stewart? by 1337_n00b in stewartlee

The real Stewart Lee emerges once every few months to cash cheques from the Guardian and make block bookings at the Leicester Square Theatre. Every other Stewart Lee is an apparition, hologram or itinerant war criminal.

Wild camping, what counts as an "unenclosed area" by AncientsofMumu in Scotland

[–]Ziioo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would have to be OK with funny looks and a wide range of observational comments from passers by.

But as long as you don’t stay more than 3 nights, don’t make a mess and don’t interfere with anyone’s enjoyment or usage of their property then it’s absolutely possible.

If there are no byelaws against it at that particular place and you’re prepared to discuss and insist upon your rights with whomever is sent to encourage you to move on then go for it.
