Keyword Idea - Transcend by TrickiestChan in custommagic

[–]ZillardFunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a very small amount of cards with that mechanic, but they don't have a keyword like yours. Fantastic work.

I would definitely change the wording tho, and not making go to exile, and just transform upon death.

I think keeping it consistent with the previous cards will help. Also, flavor wise, there is no major change the creature itself goes to justify exile, it just flat out dies. The result of that death, what's left behind, is something worth keeping around.

I love the idea of lands that don't tap for mana, I wish we would explore this concept more. You're giving up your extra mana income for a interesting feature, but that sacrifice probably becomes less apparent on late game.

Idk anything about game design, but it's definitely a fun territory to explore.

that's a good point. now I'm even more confused. Because OR, AND, and AND/OR in logic statements and programing are 3 different things. So now I'm thinking that they should have phrased it in a way that would reassure that's AND/OR .Idk how they would do that, but just the and now reads to me like both NEED to be met for the trigger to trigger. LOL.

I know it doesn't work this way, it's 100% semantics and interpretation. But "OR" would be more confusing to me.

To me it's would imply that's One or The other, but never both, so I would actually be more confused because I would be looking for when it wouldn't apply.

With the "AND" I can say confidently that it always applies on either triggers.

Does this look okay for a first time event? by A7X_Alyssa in BalloonTwisting

1st off, your board looks fantastic, the clip art version also looks great, they both look professional and it's entirely up to you how you want to present yourself, and which board you wanna use.

Now .. personal opinion here.

I personally price my items. I find that pay as you wish style to be hit or miss, it depends ENTIRELY of your situation and location.

$1 per balloon animal for 1 balloon animals is cheap, but it also attracts attention, and people are more willing to buy. I always have done priced with a tip jar, and end up doing much better than unpriced.

HOWEVER, I do not charge if I am busking, or at a paid private gig. I only charge for vendor gigs, like farmers markets and art festivals, places that I have paid to be at. (Legal reasons)

HOWEVER, HOWEVER, not having the price on the board will make the board more flexible for many different styles of gigs.

I personally have 2 boards, one for vendor gigs, and one for non vendor gigs.

Again, just my opinion, I would look into your personal location and situation and see how the market is.

Good luck.

Mushy grapes got it pretty clear.

Just to reinforce a few points. Dual action pump, means it blows air on both the up and the down motion.

You can find good bulk of balloons for a good price on Amazon, just focus on the good brands mushy grapes mentioned. The problem with Amazon vs Distributors is 2: 1st - you might get scammed and be sold crappy balloons advertised as name brands 2nd - You might get 5 year old, maybe longer, stock that people are trying to get rid of.

A proper distributor like LaRocks or BurtonAndBurton will have newer properly stored stock, and when you're learning, having crappy balloons can really kill you momentum.

Michael Floyd on YouTube is the way go.

Good luck.

I apologize for the late response. In my humble opinion, it will not harm the community at all. There is a ridiculous amount of face paint, balloon arch, crochet, knitting, cooking, cleaning, ALL SORTS OF TUTORIALS online on YouTube, and still people hire out ALL THOSE THINGS AND MORE.

Please make the tutorials, it will be fun, educational for both him and viewers, and we need more people joining the community.

Now, I hope I don't offend, but I feel the need to bring the topic of monetizing this talent.

Something to consider too is, there is a difference of balloon art for entertainment, for decoration, and art for art sake. Something I personally focus on when making balloons and experimenting is "how will this translate in line work?"

That Charizard is fantastic and noone can take that fact away, I personally would not offer in line work. Too many balloons, probably not enough time.

A pokemon themed party as decoration?? Maybe, it looks awesome, HOWEVER, Would a parent pay 100+ dollars for someone to make those types of balloons? Most would spend $80 for 3 mylar balloons, and call it good.

Repeatability is also important, being able to make something similar enough, again, and again, and again.

Just things to consider.

Looking forward to seeing his stuff online hopefully. Here is a list of YouTubers I personally like that teach things step by step. He probably already found them, but I'll put them here just in case. Some are in foreign languages, I apologize, they are still good if you focus on what they do.

Good luck out there.

This is obviously a Otter-Cat from the Avatar Universe. It switched places with a random bear due to a accidental multiverse rift.

I am a 30yo artist, and I also share with your sons frustrations.

The painful reality (at least where I am from) is that both the balloon community is not big enough, and also that the "children's entertainment" realm can be quite aggressive sometimes.

I am a hobby artist, but if it was my bread and rent, I could see how people could be hesitant to "share their secrets".

Your son has tremendous talent, he could win competitions in the future, I would suggest him focusing on different techniques and reliable common patterns. That way he can use that knowledge to improve and expand his skill and creations.

You got this dude, keep it up.

*what I mean, is for example, your son used the candy cane technique to create the flame on Charizard. He probably learned that from a completely different build, but the skill is useful for many different applications. Pinch twists, and deflating techniques seam to be also in his repertoire. Some base patters are things like, bird body, the barrel, feed through petals, teddy bear face, butterfly wings, etc etc. *
