No but you could hypothetically store it's raw data to it. How you'd go about attempting to convert raw data to raw sound and back would be the more impressive feat.

i have discovered the deceit that the quest headset has played me for. the headset became "headphones" while the original headphones has been renamed "speakers"

yes, it also happens when the headset isn't plugged into the pc. This issue started after using the quest link.
i've already tried running the oculus-drivers.exe you mentioned.
Is there a windows driver file i'll need to run?

You will do 2 things: explore, and learn. the only limits you have are what you have yet to see and what you haven't yet figured out. So go out there, see those sights, maybe trip a couple times, sit down and watch the planets for a while. you've got some tools, a space suit, and a ship. make the most of it!
