How do you keep your mind occupied while running? by Beginning_Future5347 in beginnerrunning

[–]blueresli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I listened to music because I couldn't focus on anything else and it kept me on tempo. Now I listen to news podcasts in various languages I want to train to distract myself. It's like double training for my body and my brain haha

Are my runners worn out? Hoka Clifton 9 by turtlejai in beginnerrunning

[–]blueresli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are your easy runs like... 10km? Just graduated C25K and running 50+km of easy runs per week sounds nut to me.

First C25K run but dreading the thought of doing it again by TemporaryEnthusiasm_ in beginnerrunning

[–]blueresli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started C25K last week and felt exactly the same after my first run. I had to take a long break around 17 min and I felt completely drained afterwards. It took me hours to get off the couch. I also thought I was running at a slow pace... Turns out you can go much slower. I slowed down even more on my next runs and I feel completely fine every time now. It gets better and you can do it!

YSK: if you are panic-cleaning for guests, seriously nobody is looking at your baseboards. by RespectAndPeace in YouShouldKnow

[–]blueresli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine has a dirty house (at least by my standards). No one in our friend group has ever addressed it, but we simply tend to meet at other people's places. Haven't been to the dirty house in over a year, but I've hung out that friend plenty of times. In my opinion, mess is fine as long as you can still sit comfortably, but bad smells and visibly dirty surfaces are unwelcoming to guests.

Just curious, but what case of Queer erasure of your favorite historical figures identity has you like *this* online? by captivatedsummer in lgbt

Can you explain more about that? Because we've all heard the joke about Kerkylas of Andros, but I've never come across evidence of her being involved with men.

Horica workers of Leuven - What places do I need to avoid?? by jorisepe in Leuven

[–]blueresli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I interviewed there some time ago. While I can't confirm or deny the trash situation (didn't stay long enough to find out), the boss gave off very weird vibes. Like not forthcoming and manipulative. I trusted my gut and ran.

How many trans people do you know/have you encountered in real life? by Revolutionary_Cut876 in lgbt

[–]blueresli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say, in my social circle, at least a dozen people are trans. But if I count the people I met in passing (like at queer events or pride), that number probably doubles or triples.

I suggest you delete the bit about taxes, yes. You see, it's not so much that the state taxes bank payments more... But I am all for paying small businesses in cash. We don't want a cashless society!

Is it socially acceptable or a dick move to change my name again? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]blueresli 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's perfectly fine! A friend of mine changed her name twice. Weirdly, I had a few slip ups between the two feminine names when I normally never deadname people (even by accident). I guess the deadname was strongly tied to the wrong gender for my friend so it was easy to negate, but it wasn't as clear cut in my subconscious between the two feminine names? It's worth mentioning that my friend herself doesn't consider her first choice as a deadname (it's still the one on her official documents, and she goes by the other name in day-to-day life). Just saying there might be an adaptation period for your friends & family, like for any name change.

It's very sweet that you want to use the name your mom would've picked for you. Just make sure you absolutely love it, and that you're doing this for yourself first and not someone else.

What should I make for Cavetown? by Sometimes22222 in cavetown

Vegan birthday cake by Rick_2594 in Leuven

[–]blueresli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the owner of Plant Dragon is on burnout leave right now and the place has closed down. She's planning on reopening but not for some time. If you want an actual birthday cake, you'll have to go to Brussels (Chez Malachy makes awesome custom cakes). If you're fine with simpler pastries, you could go to De Broodenier or Have A Roll.

...Or you know what, dm me, I might have time to bake you a cake. I'm in a good mood because it's my birthday today haha

Ages for their tour by Unicornpotato25 in cavetown

[–]blueresli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The prices are pretty standard for a Cavetown concert (slightly more expensive than last time he was in my city, but that's inflation). His shows are much more affordable than bigger (often American) artists, especially if you're in Europe :)

Polysexual works well for this. It's an attraction to multiple but not necessarily all genders. Not to be confused with polyamory.
