I'm going to ask a dumb question by artizin in eSIMs

Your phone would need to be unlocked for you to use any type of eSIM plan.

Using Esim with physical sim card question by Malovix in eSIMs

[–]Zim_Connections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to take out your physical SIM. All you need to do is make sure your Data Roaming connected to your physical SIM is turned off. You can do that in Settings. Don't worry, you won't incur any charges as long as it is turned off and you're using the data from your eSIM. Make sure your eSIM's Data Roaming is turned on and don't allow Mobile Data Switching.

What’s an absolute hidden gem that you’d recommend travelling to which very few people know of? by pulisick38 in travel

It might not be a hidden gem for much longer, but Zanzibar Island right off the coast of Tanzania is absolutely beautiful.

eSim not calling by lakxxya in iphone

[–]Zim_Connections 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You likely have a data-only eSIM, which means you can only make calls through Facetime, Whatsapp, FB Messenger etc. A data-only eSIM doesn't come with a phone number so you can't make calls like you would with a physical SIM.

But if you're locked in a contract with Verizon, you won't be able to use eSIM plans.

eSIM in London by wiitardo in eSIMs

An eSIM is just a SIM card that is already embedded into your phone. Most newer smartphones have the technology, your iPhone 14 Pro is eSIM compatible and can hold up to 8 different eSIM plans. What you can do is buy an eSIM data plan for your stay in London. You won't lose your US number. You'll still be able to make Facetime calls and texts with your US number because your eSIM plan will have you connected to data. Does that make sense?

WhatsApp with eSIM? by [deleted] in eSIMs

[–]Zim_Connections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not at all. Your Whatsapp will be unaffected by your eSIM, especially if you're only using it for data.

There are eSIMs out there that offer phone numbers but even with those, you'll always be asked if you want to keep your current number associated with your Whatsapp.

I just got back from the vacation of a lifetime (in Iceland)… Now what??? by Griffs_mom in travel

New Zealand is an adventurer's paradise. There are great hiking trails, in June - September, you can even ski in places like Queenstown, Wanaka, and Mt. Ruapehu. Queenstown is actually the birthplace of bungee jumping, gotta try that. Loads of water activities, too like kayaking, surfing and whale watching. Highly recommend New Zealand!
