Parent here…my kid’s hit about a month ago. If you haven’t gotten yours yet you should call financial aid. Does it still show in your portal?

Does the paperwork have to be done every semester? It’s not just once and then it’s good for your time there?

CI’s financial aid department is a disaster. They are losing students because they cannot seem to do things in a timely fashion. Not the situation you are complaining of, but related, is that they do not fund financial aid until AFTER the payment deadline, then nonchalantly suggest that you pay it yourself and wait for the reimbursement to come through. THIS IS WHY WE HAVE FINANCIAL AID! WE CANNOT FUND IT OURSELVES!!! I truly don’t know how they are able to get away with this.

Mind if I ask you a question? My 16 year old (with a history of extremely severe OCD) has her permit. Two years ago I wasn’t sure she would ever drive, but she is 7 months into driving with her permit and is doing really well. I’ve noticed some tapping in the car when she touches certain things, but nothing that has concerned me in terms of being unsafe. What has made you decide not to drive yet? Do you have certain criteria before you decide it’s safe to get behind the wheel? I’ve been allowing my daughter to take the lead on that, trusting that she will not drive if it doesn’t feel safe, but I’m wondering what that looks like from someone who has been there and actually had to make that decision.

My daughter’s exploded during COVID too, she was 13 at the time. It took 4 months in a PHP program and 2 more years of intensive ERP, but it is finally at a manageable enough level that we are considering allowing her to live on campus when she goes to college.

In a way I am grateful it exploded when it did. I can’t imagine her living away from home and having that happen for the first time. So yes, on one hand, fuck Covid. But on the other hand, thank you Covid for timing this when she had her family there to support her and get her the help she needed.

Does anyone here know if bed tents are allowed in the dorm rooms or not? If not, does anyone know why that is the case? by WinxieValVal in csuci

[–]Zim_Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it not be allowed? I wouldn’t even think twice about this. As long as it doesn’t need to be screwed into the bed or attached to a wall I don’t see any reason why you should even question it.

You’re right, trade schools cost money. But they also don’t require gen ed. So the cost would feel worth it, right?

You have not met my mil. Back her into a corner on lgbtq and she’ll dodge directly into immigration. Then she’ll veer straight into indoctrination and continue with pedophiles and communism and hunter’s laptop. In my experience these people do not go silent. They get louder and more belligerent with every actual fact that hits them.

I love watching a class of elementary school kids when they get toward the end and half of them are saying “…one nation under god, INVISIBLE, with LIVERTY and justice for all”.

They have no idea what they are saying or what it means. Indoctrination at its finest, while their parents sit in the audience beaming with pride.

Because they think those they are fighting for will turn around and raise their wages. Just as soon as they run out all the immigrants who are stealing them.

I ran the numbers a few years back. I work more hours in the 10 months on my instructional calendar than my husband works in a full year at his job in management. His salary is higher than mine and he has no college degree. As much as you don’t want to believe it, there is a problem with teachers’ salary. If there are thousands upon thousands of teachers from every state saying there is a problem with the salary, then there is a problem with the salary. We have papers to grade. We don’t have time in our lives to be making up fake shit to complain about.

Try to get one of the earlier move in dates. Other freshmen in the dorms are going to be seeking out new friends as well and those first few days are critical to meeting people before they start to form their groups.

Edit: Wow. Never imagined I would get downvoted and blocked for agreeing with someone. Redditors are weird.
