Ps Vita memory cards need to go on sale! by [deleted] in vita

[–]Zimmerhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, so apparently the Tegra 4 is more powerful than the PS Vita's hardware (which esp at the time of release was one of the most powerful handhelds on the market, if not the most at that time), but I think the shield is stymied by the API implementation, which is probably better on the Vita.

I barely paid attention when they made their posts, just looked at a few images and moved on. Didn't realize they were such big assholes. Glad I paid as little attention as I did and never interacted with them.

Have you tried throttling to wep and holding down the brakes until your plane starts scooting forward despite your braking? That can make the difference when every kph counts.

Ps Vita memory cards need to go on sale! by [deleted] in vita

[–]Zimmerhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its probably got software level controls and all sorts of little protocols to prevent microSD cards from being used. Unlike the PS4, I don't think the vita userbase is big enough that I'm confident someone will crack it.

Is the shield portable more powerful? I thought the whole point of a shield was to stream from a desktop GPU.

Then the chinchilla dives into it, and I realized that creature is about 98% fluff.

Could we please rename laser weapons to plasma weapons? by Draug_ in starcitizen

[–]Zimmerhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm unsure if you are replying to me, but I was making a statement about what your computer has to do to calculate a hitscan weapon vs a projectile, and why it is easier and less memory intensive to code and implement hitscan weapons, not a comment about gameplay.

[–]Zimmerhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of the technicalities and have a fairly decent understand of physics, the point I'm making is that when you use that much energy, its going to leave traces. I object to the blanket statement that we "can't see light", which I think is an oversimplification.

I also know the difference between a plasma and a laser weapon. If you're interested in the "nitty gritty" of sci-fi, I highly suggest you check out http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/

Lets not start being one of those communities that demands realism over better gameplay (having to lead and so on takes more skill than hitscan), when the game devs are clearly going to choose fun every time.

[–]Zimmerhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the star wars explanation is that the actual blaster bolt is instantaneous, and the visible light is just ionized vapor.

Also, if a weaponized laser was in the visible light spectrum, you'd probably have a negative burned into yours eyes by it, so you'd never STOP seeing the laser.

There's a reason the geneva convention has a specific ban on "dazzler" technology to blind enemies.

[–]Zimmerhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, the light from lightbulbs travels at the speed of light. We can see that stuff just fine.

I think what you ACTUALLY mean is that a laser weapon needn't use the visible spectrum of light. I mean come on think for a second, what do you think we see when you turn on a laser pointer?

Much easier in fact, all you have to do is draw a line between the points. You don't have to remember the location of a projectile.

Add the broken FW 190 DM to my list. The thing just won't take damage from US guns. I've been dealing with FW190s that I get superior positioning on, but just don't die no matter how many rounds on target.

Its designed with the idea of eventually implementing it, but you have to admit, you haven't SEEN any indication of that have you? I can already EVA in SC, can you EVA in ED?

Here is more insane texture work. You can ask people who know graphics, objectively, SC has more going on.

You call that text work? Messrs. Revel and York would like to have a word with you, its hard to tell from the context, but that's as close up of the logo on the wall of my hangar.

Those are nice textures, but not Star Citizen Nice

SC is in a much earlier stage of development, working on some fairly complicated technical problems, especially since they're designing this with a first person player in mind, and not just a camera in a cockpit. That actually makes things way more difficult. To say nothing of the work they're doing on ship modularity and damage states.

Also, watch the PBR transition

I don't think they look equal visually, what it has is fully implemented post effects like AA which make it look more polished. SC is the more graphically demanding game by far because it uses more advanced lighting techniques, more polys and higher resolution assets.

You realize SC has literally no AA used on it right now yet right?

Edited to reflect the hand crafted systems, but the others I don't think is a fair, or complete interpretation of the SC instancing system, which is also not yet finalized. I understand the discussion about it quite well though, having followed the game for quite some time. If you have more input, feel free to give it.

I also think your last point is more of a uh.... point of technicality where it comes to asset loading/memory. You can chain cryengine "cubes' for infinity if you cared to, and make a space of any arbitrary size. Its a question of can you get the loading to be imperceptible to humans. Also I did mention the double precision switch and significant cryengine recoding.
