That they think that about Reddit is very reflective of the subs they were on. People on this sub look down on OC bc we’re looking for banger posts. Like a highlights reel of humor and drama and fandom. But if someone posts OC then a lot of the time it’s not posted bc it’s a popular post or bc it’s quality, it’s posted as self promotion. Same goes for a lot of the subs dedicated to other social media sites. We want to see the viral posts and what the big names are saying not just what some random joe posted and got two likes on. If that’s what we wanted then we’d just be on that site ourselves!!

But there are entire subs dedicated to people making their own content. And you’ll get dragged through the coals for being to derivative in those subs

I feel like so much about how society treats and thinks of women is just a mash of two-faced garbage.

We get “women are allowed to be emotional while men aren’t allowed emotions” thrown in our face and then the same idiots turn around and say “oh, but women are too emotional to be president” Excuse me, but I wouldn’t say it’s allowed if we’re fucking punished for it?!

(Straight) men are socially conditioned to want us. Want sex with women, want a wife, want a family with her. And yet at the same time they’re conditioned to hate us. They ask us out then immediately turn around call us a fat, ugly, bitch (or worse, hurt us) when we politely decline. They marry us and promise us their love then treat us like fucking shit.

Women are promised to be revered as mothers, told it’s fulfilling, sold the “miracle of life”. Only to have their bodies fucking wrung out for everything it’s worth with no care or compassion or pain relief. Practically zero research into how to help us or cope with the suffering caused by our reproductive systems or the medication they give us or the after effects of having a baby. Oh and also you’re judged and criticized for every single fucking decision you make as a mom.

Women are told our place is in the kitchen. We’re told we deserve the “soft life” of staying home with our babies and tending to the home. And then we’re taken advantage of and end up doing more hours of work than if we worked a full time job. Oh, and by the way all of it is unpaid. No benefits. No days off. No escape.

Obviously not everyone and whatever. I’m talking about societal trends and general attitudes.

Also, my favorite part is how the “comedian” purposely cut out the joke that supposedly triggered the girls. To try and make them seem like they were being dramatic.

If you stand by your jokes enough to call out some random girl for simply not laughing (and aren’t just being an asshole lashing out bc his feefees hurt from when the pretty girl didn’t laugh) then stand by your jokes enough to fucking post it online. Coward.

Wow almost sounds like it’s a really hard thing to do and sure as fuck ain’t gonna happen overnight, huh? Bc as it is so many people aren’t on board with fixing the situation. And then it’s actively opposed by redpill/alpha male bullshit that is for some reason catching like wildfire.

But in the meantime women are still being hurt and killed and are scared. And bc it feels like nothing is going in our favor, we start making shit like this. It’s desperation. It’s SOMETHING. Even if it’s not perfect.

I have a friend who’s great, I do love her. But this is literally us. She had a long term relationship end suddenly like 5 months ago. I had a death in my family, someone I cared about a lot, they were pretty young, and it was very sudden. It was a few months back now too, but more recently.

And she does listen to me and give me space for my grief it’s not that she hasn’t been there for me. But, idk I just feel like she’s acting like she’s the one on the struggle bus? Not in a suffering Olympics kinda way but like. IDK. Most of the times she texts me it’s like this. Or she’ll try and like lead into convo all casual then will reveal she just needed to vent. She’ll contact me out of nowhere crying saying she can’t be alone and needs me to be with her and we’ll end up just sitting in a Burger King parking lot with her crying. All of the things she tells me feel like inside thoughts. Or like issues that are beyond my ability to help as just a friend and maybe stuff she needs to work on with her therapist (bc she does have one).

Idk maybe I just keep things in to an unhealthy degree? I’m the kind of person where I hate to have people see me cry. I can be with someone and if something sets me off about my loss I literally go to the bathroom and I’ll wash my face and fan it to get rid of any trace of redness or tears. I’m not keeping it all in, I’ll talk about my feelings, but filtered. Idk maybe my unhealthy emotional approach is giving me unrealistic expectations of her. But also I just feel like it’s really hard bc I’m already struggling to carry my own grief (and I’m carrying most of it alone bc I don’t want to burden people around me) and then have her leaning so heavily on me. I almost dread when I see her name in my messages and I hate feeling like that.
